It doesn't matter if you're talking about the in-game information, or your lodestone profile. There's zero reason to hide either.

None of which requires you to be able to see someone's lodestone profile at all. Ever tried talking to a person? That tends to work!
You may not realize it but MMORPGs with similar features in-game have existed long before online profiles like the one The Lodestone has and you know... people got along without them.
Hell, in plenty of MMOs you can't even see anyone's information at all aside from maybe their gear.
If the person doesn't want you to see anything beyond that you should be able to use your interpersonal skills to get any other information you need as this is a social game... Let's not forget that.
Oh, and if you can't. Maybe they aren't the right person for your linkshell, raid, etc. They may have a perfect lodestone profile but if you can't talk with em at all then would you really want them anyway? Chances are you wouldn't! Hurray for taking two seconds out of your day to talk to someone!

and the little lalafell, we'll call it 'leve-linking army'... (look one up, history is 'suspect' to say the least)
how 'active' a person actually is... unless you ranked up every class to 50 already, have all crystals, NM's quests done, active players have updates to their lodestone history at least 1-2 times a week.
I don't think lodestone histories are a big deal BUT I can see how it could cause you to get into drama etc.
Some linkshells for instance, don't allow their members to do NM's/raids with others. Well Other's includes non-linkshell friends. What if your first Bartraal kill was with friends and not this Linkshell? Even if you only went with them when your ls wasn't doing anything, some still get their panties in a twist...you get booted, drama insues etc.
...by the way, I'm in NO WAY saying I agree with Linkshells that do this, nor with people who sign up for one with these rules getting upset if they get busted...just something I know has happened to people in my social shell with their 'Event' shells. I was just using it as an example.
