i would love to see the more iconic classes released first, later on get onto the exotic classes so if you are still wanting more, you can down the road.
it would make the most amount of people happy setting up for a longer term game life imho. and as it is right now we are almost at the cap for 25 different weapons between all the classes, they should make a new main hand 2 box slot above the off hand inventory slot. 50 slots for main hand weapons would be a big help.
Red Mage - Main hand item is a Sword, Offhand item is a Rod - Magic Melee DPS
Blue Mage - Main hand item is a Mace, Offhand item is a Rod - Caster Ranged DPS
Samurai - Main hand item is a 2 Handed Katana - Tank, but i want it to be a DPS as well if you switch off typical Tank buffs to fill that role as well.
Dancer - Main hand item is a Rapier, Offhand item is a Parry Dagger - Close Range Healer (i would like them to get one skill like the bard that is a group movement buff like Swiftsong)
i am tending to think of the Red Mage as a close range hybrid, with melee abilities that can fuel your magic, which can damage or be used as support healing
and for Blue Mage i would want it slotted as a ranged caster dps with some utility options, i find a Rod to be iconic for this class, i think sword/dagger/staff is already done to death, need to bring in new weapons to make it unique and distinct. but instead maybe altogether if people didn't want Rods for offhands for Blue/Red mage i would suggest maybe hybriding them together to forge a new type of weapon into a Sword-Rod and Mace-Rod for the main hand and have a Shield as the offhand?
i am thinking ahead in terms of itemization as well
Geomancer - Main hand item is a Bell - Healer (i would like them to get one skill like the bard that is a group movement buff like Swiftsong)
Berserker - Main hand item is a 2 Handed Hammer - Tank
Mime - Main hand item is a 2 Handed Scythe - Caster Melee DPS
I hope they add more obscure/less-used jobs from the series to this game.
Seeing the same handful gets kind of repetitive. :B
I'd like to finish off with iconic jobs first:
Samurai (Tank) - It wears heavy armor, fights face to face with enemies and as a tank it gets to be the "leader" of the group aswell, fitting for a Samurai. It could have lots of parry/counterattacks/offensive abilities, closer to a WAR then PLD/DRK. It could work as a DPS aswell but honestly if XIV had to get another tank I could see SAM filling that role very well.
Red Mage (DPS) - Melee battlemage with supporting abilities filling the BRD/MCH niche. Abilities being a mix of sword attacks, en-spells, weaker black magic and healing/buffing support spells.
Blue Mage (DPS) - Third Caster dps, closer to Strago than its FFT/XI appearance. Spells learned from special monsters during job quests. FFV/FF explorers iconic look.
After these we'd probably need a healer which could be harder to implement since the devs seem adamant on mantaining the WHM/SCH balance (which is the reason AST feels a bit redudant).
Some ideas:
Time Mage - Haster/Slow/Rewinding time magic to heal - Could feel redudant with AST around, would need some work.
Dancer - It could be an interesting "no mp" healer - Would need LOTS of work to make it balanced, probably better off as a melee support job.
Necromancer - Necromancy? Healing people?! - Crazy stuff.
I would like to see more jobs in the dev's team so they can stop with the recycled content.
I don't care what class, just give me gun blades or else
I fully support Blue Mage, Red Mage, Samurai and Dancer. My personal opinion is that Time Mage would be an enormous waste of a job since AST very much fills a very similar role.
DNC will most likely be a Chakram or Fan wielding Healer.
RDM will use Gunblades and
Be the melee battery (like BRD and MCH)
SAM has to be a DPS role because DRK is the parry/dodge tank.
BLU will be a tank using blunt weapons and have some sort of "Draw" mechanic like in FF8.
