Fensfield, wasn't it said a bit ago that they will give us an option to change or guardian from the 12 in the future because we might find out something about the ones we chose that we won't like? That is why I am thinking there is a sinister side going on behind the scenes that we haven't seen yet. I just want to have fun with that bit of information and see what other's might think about the twelve and primal lores.

like there is Umbral and Astral Months and we worry about the Umbral era because it means destruction and not good for us. I am stretching with this statement but after reading Nald'thals description, makes me think Ifrit. Nald'thal is connected with the Umbral 6th month of the Eorzean calander, he is fire elemented, the trading is more to do with how the Amajaal are trying to control the trading and flow of crystals, also the fact that Ifrit is in Thanalan and so is Nald'thal. Yes far stretching but we will find out as we learn more of the 12 and their connection with the umbral era's. Which has also been said in Lore that they are the cause of the Umbral era's.

I'm afraid my memory of that quote is more along the lines of, 'We will probably give you the opportunity to change your Guardian at some point in the future, when we make the choice more relevant to gameplay.' I've no memory of this 'something you won't like' bit (aside from the implication that the choice may have an unwanted impact on gameplay), but I'd appreciate it if you could link me through to the Dev' post in question.

Also, discussion and debate generally involve differing ideas that very often will not mesh very well. I delivered my contradictory interpretation as a part of explaining why I believe that your interpretation is incorrect, not as an attack on you, and I'm sorry if you read it so. If discussion cannot at any point say 'I'm sorry but I think you're wrong', then you're limiting acceptable posts to ones that agree with you and this whole thread becomes pointless beyond 'here's what I think, and I'm sorry but I'm not interested in everyone else's thoughts on the subject.'

heh I didn't take to much offense by your post. I am not trying to steer it I just would like to see more interpretations with yes some disagreements but I was hoping for disagreements of "oh this is how I see it.... I don't agree with your statements but I see the lore evolving this way....." Is all I was meaning I want some interesting interpretations from peoples own experiences ^.^. Also I will try to find the post but that might take awhile lol.

DP: You can choose your guardian deity during character creation, but can you switch during the course of the game?
KI: We’ll probably make it possible, since there are some SERIOUS revelations about the deities during the game (Iwao laughs). There will most likely be a penalty, though.

I think that's what you mean? I noticed that recently too, very interesting and makes me look forward to what the story has in store for us.

edit: actually another thing that has interested me is the tattooed necked beings we interact with in the main story cutscenes. With all the power and spells that they have that we don't I think they are Avatar's of the 12 and also the 2 evil or proposed evil beings that we interact with in either LL storyline or (for the life of me I can't remember his name) but the Arcanist that everyone is trying to hunt down, (he also has the neck tattoo) is avatar as well of a greater being maybe the 12 as well. Because they can disappear at will not teleport. I know I might be overthinking this to some people, but it is how I am seeing it. I mean they come out of no where, when people search for them no one can find them, they talk in riddles, and they know a lot about the 12. lol I just like the story and making my predictions of how the story will evolve, I want to see what others have formulated in their experiences ^.^.

lol I do have to say... I was hoping for more imaginative people in the FF community that would tell their interpretations, I am surprised. Considering all the lore talk in every other aspect of the game from weapons and armor.

As for this, well, obviously I like indulging in this sort of speculation (roleplayer and all), but still my interpretation remains fairly different and I don't really see the deities going the route you seem to be imagining .. although I do wonder about this revelation they're talking about.

Honestly I imagined things taking a more 'crusade-y' turn along the line, with factions forming around followers of the Primals and the Twelve - certainly that does seem to be the route along which the storyline seems to have been meandering, what with the Garleans lumping the Woken in with the Beast Tribes and other followers of the Primals and seemingly earmarking them for purges.
