if you want more than 1500 recommendations, that means that you don't want that person to ever use any DPS class in duty finder and you forgot about gathering and crafting mentors.I think the requirements are way too low. A DoW/M mentor should have all the classes/jobs to 60 and all the job quests done, more than 1500 commendations, should have cleared at least 10 times every instance can come out from the DR Mentor and should be bound to do at least one DR Mentor weekly or 5 monthly to not loose the status other than having a clean "criminal record".
Why? I do all of that and have close to 3000 comms.
Tbh, the amount of mentors running around shows that, if anything they should be more strict.
But, I think there could have been a radomized short quiz to show some level of difficulty before becomming one. I do notice while healing that a lot of the time, the people making totally basic mistakes are mentors.
1500 may be a bit high, but it is something everyone who has played long enough can get, and if you don't know how to dodge AOEs, or even that you should, by then... well being a good mentor is the least of your problems.
But haven't the Novice networks been invaded by bot now, making it fairly worthless.

You seriously have not noticed that even if you play well as a dps you wil not get a recommendation, maybe for good glamour but thats it, healers and tanks get automatic recommendation as a thanks for letting dps in the dungeon though. Why? I do all of that and have close to 3000 comms.

I don't know about you, but I get way more commendations as a BLM than I ever do as an AST.
Edit: I also tend to commentate DPS more than tanks or healers.
Maybe you don't, but that could mean something, I get a good amount of comms when dpsing, and dps get my comms for doing the mechanics properly and dodging. Couple that with the requirements of having a tank and heal to 60 and you should already have way more than the current minimum requirements.
Point being you already have 100 mentors to each Greenleaf. lol, they even had to expand the criteria for greenleaf...
I agree with this, the crown is a stupid ego boost to people that need epeen stroking. But at the same time, it is helpful to have a symbol for greenleafs to recognize in the field. Something other than a symbol of a king would be better.
I disagree that Comms are a useless. I agree they may not be the best. What they can do, is show that you have run lots of content, and run it outside of premades, they just set the bar so low on it that it is useless. Set it to 1000 and you will still likely have 50 mentors for every leaf.
But like I said, a short, randomized quiz that proves some kind of competency would be best. Something that asks what X action does, or stances.
Of course! other dps only get comms by showing skin, it is no fault of your own! Damn them all!

Most of my 1700+ commis I've gotten by playing bard. I'm always amazed when I leave a duty with a commi. Then I wonder what I'm doing? Maybe someone notices I DPS well, maybe someone notices I sing songs when needed, maybe someone appreciates I say hi when I enter, maybe someone appreciates I try to explain things if someone is struggling with things, maybe I stand up for the person that is being bullied, maybe that I do mechanics correct(so many people fail at this).
I tend to commi by order of preference: no one > person that amused me the most > person that did good
So no not hard to get commis.
(super serious)I don't know what to put here so I've put this here as a placeholder until I figure it out.(super serious)
Recruitment code if you are starting out: FTB8JBQ5
Huh? I get comms as DPS fairly frequently. I get more as tank/healer simply because I queue as those roles more, but it's no surprise to me to get a few here and there as DPS. No matter what role I'm in, I just go out of my way to make the run go smoothly for the other players. If I go in as healer, I normally queue with a friend as tank. He does big pulls, I DPS my face off. Sometimes one of us gets both comms. Sometimes we get one each. Sometimes only one of us gets one or even neither of us. It's kind of up in the air. I don't expect them simply for queueing tank/healer, though. We already get rewarded for that in the form of instant queues and the nice part is if we end up with DPS that don't exactly do good damage, we can easily carry.
As for the mentor thing, I personally only did it to unlock the roulette and the achievements. I don't join the Novice Network because I already have enough trouble filtering the amount of spam that comes in through my chatbox between FC chat and linkshells. Mentor roulette has been a mixed bag for me, honestly. Sometimes I get level 10 guildhests. Other times I end up spending an hour getting my ass kicked by Odin trying to get 4 brand new people that have no idea of the mechanics through the fight.
I don't see how that's such an onerous request. It's not exactly hard to turn off.
