Those two are one reason I really wish the game actually noticed your race more often. They talked to me like I wasn't duskwight myself (this being before I switched to Au Ra in HW)
I've had that happen before with an NPC explaining how familys work for Keepers of the Moon. I ranted quite a bit to my FC that she assumed I was an idiot that didn't know how my own people handle such things. (Thankfully when something similar was mentioned for the Little Lady's day event, the NPC was kind enough to give me an "As you know")
