i built mine a month ago:I know! lol. I built my desktop about a year to the day ago. If I had known about the core i5 and 7 processors I would have waited a few more months.
I spent about 1400 bucks, all straight from newegg.com
-EVGA Mobo
-Core2Duo 2.8 Ghz w/ L3 Cache
-4 GB OCZ dual channel
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 w/ 1 GB Video Ram
-1 TB HDD - Samsung
-23" LCD monitor w/ 2ms response time, full 1920x1200 support
-Modular 750w power supply
It runs ffxiv smooth as hell. The only reason I suggest Alienware is mainly for their desktops. Their ALX series is truly awesome stuff, and they have a great liquid cooling setup for multi GPU's. But that is wayy out of this threads price limit.
CMIII case
i7 950 @ 3.07
2TB WD
corsair c8 24 GB 8x3 triple channel
evga mobo
nvidia geforce gtx 560 ti 1 gb x2 SLI
sony 40 inch hdtv led via hdmi
FFXIV? well..?
*secretly wants to stab you and steal your rig*
That's really awesome. If I had the money I'd be right there with you. How is the RAM?
first time trying corsair. used to be kingston fan before. i'd must say, solid performance and overall acceptible speed.
The fact you chose an X58 to build in Feb puzzles me. 24 GB RAM big waste of money for most.. P67 FTW and the same cost. I built in January a

But yeah is there any reason why you chose to go with the X58? Just curious..
3D Vision on this game pwns lol ^^
Asus G73JW seems like a little beast of a laptop ^^ Maybe you can find one with new Sandy Bridge chips..
