my point though is that if the healer shield / buff they just applied is enough to mitigate the damage and they wont have to do anything additional directly after to make sure the party survives then applying divine veil at that time is wasted.

you may as well of applied it after so everyone has a shield for the next little while allowing your healers to do whatever they want. or better yet tell the healers your applying it and maybe it was enough of a shield so that the healer could of just dps'd the whole time instead of switching from cleric.

don't get me wrong its a good skill that should be used often, like encidna in VA you can use divine veil on both raid wide attacks as the timer will reset or you could use it just before the shared aoe as most healers wont prep for that they just react after so you could save them having to heal at that point possibly.

there is a lot of places it can be useful just most the time for raid wide's that healers are prepping for it isn't.
