    I have tried various English dubs for shits and giggles, including the series mentioned, and have yet to find one that makes me stay past 5 mins on the first episode

    You really couldn't watch Cowboy Bebop's first episode in English? Yeesh... the voice acting would have to be Disney Pixar levels of good if you couldn't stand actually really good (and often preferred over the sub -regarding Cowboy Bebop) voice acting.

    Then try Monster (if you enjoy the drama genre). That anime is also pretty darn good in English (the animation itself is also very well done).
