    I want tanks to actually have a purpose in PvP other than being forced. Here's ideas.

    Alright sure you carry medals in Feast, woohoo. But honestly almost 99% of the time I wish I could swap out that one forced tank slot in premade 4s for a SMN.

    Warhammer Online had some of the best PvP Tanks I've ever seen because they made all their abilities work in PvP and make you feel like a tank in it.

    A basic throwing attack that inflicts X damage. Has a chance to deal Y damage to a severely wounded target if you are behind them.

    Basically if they try to pussy out when low health you force them to keep fighting you like as if you were tanking them otherwise they'll get wrecked by the increased damage. You could just add that to Unmend/Shield Lob/Tomahawk.


    Provoke. Taunts in PvP are always a tricky thing huh.

    While taunted your opponent will take 30% more damage from your attacks. This effect will fade after 15 seconds or after your opponent has hit you 3 times.

    Fixed. You don't force them to attack you like a mob taunt but it makes it so players have to make a decision where well I should probably attack the tank to clear that buff otherwise oh boy. See? You're tanking! In PvP!

    Like if you wanna spend a bit just look at all the abilities tanks have in Warhammer Online and you cannot tell me that they don't sound a lot funner to play in PvP than FFXIV tanks where half the time you feel shoehorned into stuff because Devs say so.

    Off course you would have to rebalance a bit of stuff but it's not to say that skills should have zero use in PvP.

    I miss my tanks in SWTOR. Our taunts, both single, and AoE, would basically reduce damage done to anyone but us. It was really nice being able to run into a group of enemies, and reduce all damage taken by my group by a rather large amount, especially with some of the more bursty classes gunning for my healers. Plus, I think every tank had a cover effect, which would redirect a portion of damage to you, and off your cover target. Cover is alright here, but it only works on physical damage, meaning any mage is still free to light up my cover target.

    Here... What am I? In the case of WAR, I'm kind of a more durable, but not as powerful DPS. In PLD... Stunlock machine. Until those reach DR... And then I flail around for a bit. And then stunlock machine... And DRK... What even do we do as DRK? I know in Seize, we drop some massive node denial in the form of Unleash spam... But what is our role in the Feast?

    Do you even understand how the feast works?

    If you think all a tank does is carry medals you're doing it wrong.
    Having the tank grab all the medals is almost a sure lose strat

    Paladins, amazing cc stuns out the ass, a silence
    Cover
    Divine veil
    Clemency
    Strength down

    Warriors great dps, great burst
    Pretty good cc
    Storms path/eye
    Good support

    Dks....OK sorry dks you kinda need some love atm

    As a tank you don't just pick up medals
    You do a number of things and without a good tank you're almost sure to lose
    The tank is going to be harassing the healer, making sure they aren't free casting

    In the case of Paladins you're going to be stunning the ever living crap out of everyone, while also saving your teammates life through cover, helping heal teammates through Clemency, and helping mitigate damage through divine veil and rage of halone, and when worst comes to worst you can go invincible to stay alive until your backup spawns back in through hallowed ground

    As a warrior your going to be reducing the enemies damage by 10% through storms path, putting out really good damage (two dps plus a warrior also bursting can be very very scary)
    Locking down targets, interrupting casts

    Decent stun, holmgang can also be a really awesome cc and can quickly change the tide of a fight if it's timing is on point, pulling the healer out of LoS while your dps burst down a target
    Not to mention you will have pretty damn good survivability if shit hits the fan and you get caught alone through your self heals
    Also increasing the hp of all your teammates can be pretty great.

    You mean, like any other dps? You need burst damage to make things happen, and a warrior's sustained dps is relatively on par with melee's. Ranged sustained dps is an absolute joke (excluding BLM) and a warrior/dork knight is better at pressuring a healer/caster than they will ever hope to.

    The only two tank pvp abilities that need revamping are carnal chill and tar pit. Tanks play very well in feast. This "discount dps" mind frame is sooo off the mark.

    We were much more. We used to be the nastiest things on the field. Then they changed the way interrupts happen. Now we can't do squat to a caster, because we don't hit the threshold anymore. Unless we want to burn a stun or silence. And this includes the spamming healer. Unless there are more than one of us whacking on them, they're going to heal forever.

    Honestly, as a tank i kinda feel usefull in this mode.

    (Paladin speaking)

    Cover is actually amazing, finally a place where i can use it every match.
    Divine veil (Shield party!) w00p w00p
    Silence
    Stun x3 Amazing to just hit on who ever is bashing the healer to much or on their healer to keep em out of the loop for a while.

    This often ensures a quick first kill in the beginning of the match if people are half-what paying attention.
