Real-money trade: The real problem

There isn't really many ways to make real money in the game besides crafting or turning houses or selling materia you earn every weak, or flipping the auction house.

Chinese Farmers usually just run the same dungeons over and over for a set amount of gil with scripts. Honestly giving earning gil other areas of the game and taking it away on easily scripted dungeons would set high standards for preventing the gil inflation. For example putting gil in high end raids and making monsters drop components needed for high end gear? The monsters can only pop every so often so that would be something the farmers would have to fight real players for.

I've was a long time WOW player and have played many other MMO's. I have never had the RMT spamming like I see here. My feeling is SE could care less about the gil sellers or they would have taken some concrete steps to improve the way it is handled.

Personally I think proactive filtering and character level controls on SE's part would be the best way to handle it and show at the same time they are serious about cleaning up the problem. In lieu of that user based chat filtering and right click reporting should be added. Another function that would work would be for me to be able to make myself non-searchable so I don't have to go /busy to avoid unwanted spam chats. By being able to hide my name it would still allow whispers for players that see me directly or might be responding to my post on another chat channel. It would also allow things like ready check to work in instances that don't when you are busy.

That would do absolutely nothing. This game can be scripted and using hacks they can teleport and do all instances and such and reach a level much easier with a macro.

People from some Asian countries make really good (huge) money for doing this. Since the price difference. In order to completely stop them, SE simply have to disable whisper/global chat for trail version. FFXIV requires monthly payment, I don't think those spammers would be willing to pay 13$ everytime their account ban. There are more ways to solve this, but I'm surprised SE haven't done it.

They already put those limitations on the free trial. This has to be repeated every time someone makes an RMT thread, because people dont actually look it up before saying things.

And if you didn't need millions of gil to buy a simple glamour no one would be temped by RMT in the first place.

I generally choose to not buy the glamour even though I REALLY wanted it. That said, I've seen an item go from 2mil to like 100k over the course of a few months. It was the same sell, too, so I guess it wasn't selling faster than intended.

Gil isn't even hard to come by in this game if you at least put forth a token effort.

This! Seeing Moqi is from moogle i can give him small tip, craft some HQ Brass Rings those are extremely lowlvl GSM crafts and you can get all mats from FC house vendor and those can sell up to 15-20k each. Making 6 of those costs roughly 300gil, so make those and milk the f..k out of lazy peoples.

Hit up roulettes on the "in need" bonus class. That's up to 9k per run at 60. Farm open world mobs. Chimeras drop manes, which tend to go for several thousand a pop since weavers need shittons of Chimerical Felt, and other classes use it as well. Dragons drop skins and blood, which are used en masse and should sell. Deepeyes, amphipteres, wyverns, dhalmels... there's lots of options.

Okay, that's really great and all, I appreciate what SE is trying to do, but that doesn't remedy the fact we're still getting spammed by tells to this day.

Honestly there's no point blacklisting them. The account that's messaging you will be deleted in a day's time and then it'll just be taking up space on your blacklist. Just set yourself to /busy.

That's not true AT ALL. I have deleted people who I blacklisted before Christmas and started receiving Christmas sale RMT spam almost immediately.
