    Until it starts costing SE money from lost subs, I don't think this is going to happen nor does it need to happen. So I'll have to disagree with this post.

    The community has shown time and time again that it's fine with more of the same, so why change the pace now?

    without go into lenghty explanation, actually the server data transfer is reaching it limit, why? because it was tuned for less people that we are actually.
    how can it affect us? do we see this effect? everyday actually, the best example is the fact that some server are closed to creation of character. i have played to a lot of mmorpg, but that the first time i see this effect over a sooo long period, we are getting close of 3 years of exploitation and we still have server that go in no character creation period. that not normal, it means the server are reaching a point, where they have trouble to handle the data transfert of the person playing.

    other effect?
    inventory, arsenal, housing limitation
    they will probably add 1-2 new jobs with the next expansion, leading the total jobs at:
    - 3 gatherer (fisher, botanist, miner)
    - 4 caster (scolar, black mage, summoner, white mage)
    - 3 tank (dark knight, warrior, paladin)
    - 3 melee (monk, ninja, lancer)
    - 2 ranged (bard and machinist)
    - 8 crafter (weaver, leathercrafting, armorer, blacksmith, carpenter, alchemist, cook, goldsmith)

    add 2 more class and it lead to 2+3+3+2+8+4+3: 25 jobs, every slot of the arsenal is limited to 25 item. means you will have the space for 1 item for each jobs nothing more. same we do have 75 slot of item for the quest item, but end with the token of faction into our normal inventory.... when the quest item inventory is empty most of the time. *le sighs* and i can continue like this for hours

    The same things were said about FFXI at some point and it is 13 years (going to 14) now. All they did was update the resolution of the logo, text, and maybe an icon or two. I'm not holding my breath as, unless the loss of subs are significant enough. FFXIV ARR+ will go into maintenance mode long before real hardware or engine upgrades could happen. Even then I agree with what you said "<snip.>...why change pace now". The game would have to be relevant and profitable enough 15 years later to warrant the cost anyway.

    HD textures, better lightning and effects, better character customization. the game looks quite outdated now.

    before anyone say "ps4 limitation" or "not everyone has powerful pc", its an option, not compulsory.

    you can dream on, yoshida was clear, he want to keep FF14 at the best possible, the live of the last august was quite clear, since he did call to the person of SE present for get more cash for the server.
