    Characters dying keeps things fresh. It also allows the antagonists to...actually feel like a threat. Yet if nameless red-shirts are dying or minor characters are introduced and then killed off shortly afterwards whilst the 'big names' continue to repeatedly avoid any dire consequences things just become predictable.

    I'd also apply it to injuries as well. I'm bitterly disappointed that neither Raubahn or Thancred were humbled by their experiences. Sadly we can safely say that their positions leave them likely candidates to be 'safe' as far as the ongoing story goes.
