Who says Chineses are the only RMT?
I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.
TERA does. They put a region lock preventing all access from China and the asian region. As a result the game has little to no RMT whatsoever. Yeah yeah I've heard there are allegedly ways around this, but TERA has remained almost entirely RMT free for it's duration because of this blocking asian traffic and any attempts around it as far as we know have been very unsuccessful. The very few RMT that do pop up from time to time are usually dealt with very swiftly. Any of you that think this wouldn't put a dent in them or wouldn't work are mistaken. TERA proves it.

You just prove my point. TERA have the block and RMT still exist. There are more far between but they still exist. What about the people that live there that like to play with people outside their country? What about the people that want to play with people from over there?TERA does. I know plenty of people that play from Asian regions, hell it makes up at least half of the English population on Tonberry. I believe even some Chinese players play on our version, but I can't say if it's large amount there. SE isn't going to do anything that is going to make them lose money, and blocking regions will make them quite a bit of subscribers I'd assume. Besides that, I'm 99% sure TERA only has IP blocked regions due to licenses in those regions that they weren't able to secure as it is with almost all KR MMORPGs.

Look it's not going to work for the simple fact that RMT are not bored internet trolls that give up when new hurdles are put up. This is a job for them, they are going to clock in cause not doing so means they don't get a pay check. Having things like lights, food, water, and a roof over your head are far more powerful motivators than anything SE or you can ever think of to make them stop.
Region locking will only effect the legit players who play on servers outside their region, and at best will buy you 2 weeks without RMT spam before they get all their ducks in a row and come back just as hard as before.

But if we got the RMTers thrown in jail, would that stop them?Look it's not going to work for the simple fact that RMT are not bored internet trolls that give up when new hurdles are put up. White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I wasn't suggesting region locking would get them thrown in jail. That would require the magic of SE lawyers (and those guys are fierce from what I'm told, i.e. you get on the wrong side of them and you're going bankrupt, guaranteed). I think we need that lawyer magic though.

Then you'd be completely wrong, here is the reason for the IP block according to TERA's own website:
http://support.enmasse.com/tera/will...ased-on-regionEn Masse will block IPs based on region. Asia, Africa, and the Middle East are included on the block list. While we appreciate that there are players in these regions who would enjoy playing on En Masse servers, it's unfortunate that the vast majority of Internet traffic we see from these regions are from cyber-criminals relating to account theft, gold-farming and other hacking behavior.
Sure, there the exceptionally rare RMT that pops up, however, it is almost non-existent because of the IP block above, in my time playing TERA (roughly two years) I saw exactly one RMT that managed to get through and they were gone within minutes and never came back. That's significantly better than the current situation this game has.,

While that may be their given reason, they are under contractual obligation to block quite a few regions as they don't hold the license. GameForge in Europe, Hangame in South Korea (which is/has switched to a new publisher), En Masse in North America & The Oceanic, MangoT5 in Taiwan and China, and so on. More than likely that reason is a cover up, similar to Tree of Saviour and their month long early access to "prevent botting". Did a bit more Googling, and apparently they have the option to sell subscription for gold similar to WoW's, Eve's and Runescape's system? If that's the case, then that's why there's far less RMT.Then you'd be completely wrong, here is the reason for the IP block according to TERA's own website:
