Request: Option to fully transfer ownership of a property to a long-term tenant.

I've been debating how to word this request for a while now, and I think the best approach is to just keep it simple: I would like to have the option to fully transfer ownership of a property to a tenant.

How the developers keep this mechanic from being abused (e.g. house selling) I leave up to them. I suggest only being allowed to transfer ownership to a tenant that has had full tenant access rights for an extended period of time (30-40 days). Having said that, if the developers can think of a better solution, even better.

My reasons for wanting this are simple: I play MMOs with my best friend. We have always played them together for the past 18 years and, stars willing, plan on continuing to do so for many more.

When I stumbled across an empty plot and purchased it, there was no question in my mind that the two of us would own that house together. As soon as the game gave me the option to do so, I made my friend a tenant with full access rights. It is *our* house - we have both put a lot of time in saving money for a virtual home, making the furniture together, doing the seasonal quests together that, over time, rewarded some of that furniture, deciding on every aspect of the decorations and layout together, etc. In my mind we both own it. As far as the game is concerned, however, only I do.

If for some reason I am no longer able to play this game for whatever reason (e.g. death or an unexpected event), I want to make sure my friend suddenly doesn't find themselves losing this house in the process. Regardless of any official policy on it, the idea of sharing our account information would not be a barrier for us, and while my friend would certainly have the ability to log onto my character every 44 days to keep our house going, I think that would be a) emotionally difficult and b) unfair to expect said friend to suddenly have to pay for two accounts. Instead, it would be far more preferable if my friend could become the owner of the house in the event that I am no longer around.

I think my friend was even more excited than I was about us finally having our own house here, and every time I hear that "I still can't believe we have a house!" comment being restated, I always find myself worrying about how I'll be able to protect my best friend from losing their virtual home in the event that something happens to me. Yes, this is a video game and in the grand scheme of things it's a silly thing to be concerned about, yet nevertheless there it is.

They added this system to help with the whole 1 person buying 4 houses for them and their alts... and we are suppose to be able to sell "Deeds" for the houses, only they havent implemented the system yet... The whole thing is full of holes, has been since housing was implemented... but it was a quick fix to help with the lack of housing on busier servers... They may change the rules after we get the Ishgard apartments though, but who knows.

A better solution would have been making it a FC house, cause the rules for FC is that anyone in the FC enters the house it resets the time, while personal it has to be the owner. They did that for all those people who had their alts buy up plots and they stop playing or dont use their alts except every 3 months for a patch...

I know it doesnt help now because you probably made it a personal house.

That and the fact that we're both actually in a real FC already.

If the developers actually get around to creating those deeds that would be fine as well, provided it's an item I can freely hand over and have my friend store away until/if needed.

I find it funny how you used death as a example cause unless the other person has access to your account who going to transfer the property if you are dead?

Actually they have, it's just not what we wanted.

The Permits are the actual "houses" and are transferable/sellable on market board and as far as I know that's what they were referring to as as they were there from the launch so someone can indeed (technically) gift/sell a house... it just doesn't actually trade a plot which would be more useful

    ?

The answer was right there in the very next sentence.

Oh I misread sorry, but with how SE handles stuff not really the best to openly admit breaking the ToS.

I said "the idea of sharing our account information would not be a barrier for us", which is future tense. Unless Tom Cruise's Minority Report has suddenly become a real thing, I think I'm ok. As of this moment the only person who has ever used my account is me.

Also, the status of my account is not something I would really have to worry about if I were suddenly no longer able to play the game anymore (e.g. if I were dead). I'm not even sure if the ToS even touches on the accounts of deceased players who still have an active subscription.

Why no make the owner click a thing that says " If I'm not able to enter the resident within 44 days I bequeath the property to blalalala #get real ( example of a persons name) " and the tentant gets a thing saying " do you accept this bequeathment" so easy peesy

Anything like that sounds fine too, although I'm not looking to undermine housing reclamation and create a situation where current plots never free up. As long as there is a restriction on who is eligible to receive the property (e.g. someone that must be a tenant for X months), to the extent that it's too inconvenient to use as a form of house selling or temporary ownership swap, that could work as well.
