I'm sensing that you're just bad. Literally just purify then beat that smn to within an inch of his life.

Maybe I just have bad reaction time, but I think it's pretty hard to purify tri-disaster before getting hit with fester, especially when we're well into the match already. It requires a lot of anticipation, which means really watching the smn much more than any other job in there constantly. Honestly, I've had more success surviving the smn opening burst by using line of sight to delay damage long enough to get some heals.

Or you can drop down or go to many of the wall and be out of sight.
I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

I play Summoner in PVP. Not very experienced either, however, imo when you get targeted by one I would immediately get out of their sight. Miasma can make that challenging but a majority of their caster skills can be nullified by line of sight.
Trying to face them one on one head on is asking for trouble. I don't think Summoners are broken but if you leave them unchecked they'll easily burst you down. Stuns and sleeps work well with neutralizing the threat.
Let's not beat around the bush - if there wasn't an issue then surely they wouldn't be one of the most popular ranged classes in PvP. I just did twelve 4 vs 4 matches in a row before posting this and every single one of them had a SMN on each team. I don't believe that it's a coincidence either - because it was the case with Seal Rock as well.
Summoner used to be annoying in frontline only because of the fact that in addition to being able to nuke on the run they also had so many bodies to hide behind. They were difficult to get to if played by players skilled in using human shields and maintaining distance. This is not so in feast (4 v 4 anyway. I rarely ever bother with 8 v 8) and they are nowhere near as intimidating since unlike frontlines there is almost no break in the fighting making the 60 seconds they have between bursts much more glaring. I believe summoner is actually balanced fine in wolves den/feast. Perhaps you can make a case for it being OP in frontlines but that's already dying off so fast (at least in primal data center). Anyway the job is so easy to kill for melee that it is almost mandatory that they take the Def buff at the start, otherwise they will be killed before they can finish their nuke unless they lucky enough to have a very good healer watching over them.
They were broken since Day 1 of PvP in Wolves Den (Aka the original PvP). Only difference from then and now is that people finally realize how broken they are and have all flocked to them.
Pardon my bluntness but you seem a bit inexperienced with pvp in general.
If you see the other team has a summoner just wait until they tri-disaster/bane and purify it. They're literally near useless for the next minute.
Or, better yet, play a summoner instead of playing bard all the time and learn the weakness of the class.
I never said that I get wrecked every time I face off against a SMN I simply stated what they are capable of. I caught on quick after most matches had a SMN on the other team and kinda chuckle when most people playing SMN just tried the same thing and I handled it. Everyone keeps saying just purify tri but what about everything else? That sounds like the definition of OP to me if the only solution everyone keeps saying use purify on it and nothing else. Not all classes are lucky enough to also have something like WP to handle the other status effects. There should be more than one good option to counter something well.
I currently have 74 frontlines matches and 100 feast matches for now. Things might be different for top players but I just speak as an average pvp joe and what I see in those matches.
