Thank you, SquareEnix. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart...

We know the history of this game. 1.0 was a disaster. However, I want to not that I used to play Wildstar. I thought Wildstar was the greatest MMORPG ever made and was something of a community leader. However, there were some bad design decisions taken that were hemorrhaging subs. NCSoft decided to cut staff, kill content, and make the same F2P transition they always had. If you guys don't follow your news, it was an unmitigated disaster.

Just coming here to thank you for your courage and your commitment to your brand. 1.0 was in far worse shape and I recall everyone saying that you'd have to go F2P and pray. Instead, SE apologized (shock!) and redoubled their efforts. You rebuilt your game. Now, instead of a refugee, I have a home. Thank you for not settling for less and for valuing our investment in the game.

I'm just hearing from all the friends I have still in Wildstar caught in the spiral, and I think there, but by the grace of God and hard work of SE, go we.

I think the FFXIV rebuild to A Realm Reborn was one the most (if not the most) bold and awesome moves a company has ever made in the gaming/MMO industry, it speaks volumes about the company mindset. I wasn't playing FFXIV in 1.0 but i heard how horrible it was and thought to myself: "well here's another failed MMO to add to the list", how shocked i was when SE announced the rebuilt, how successful it was and how the player/fan base was mostly pleased with it to launch the game to the top of MMO games. Many developers would just settle with some fixes here and there, release content patches that would mostly break other things, but a complete rebuild? This was unheard.

I haven't played the game til only recently but damn, you can see this is a really well polished game that can easily stand outside of shadow from the MMO giant, WoW. After trying several MMO's recently this was the one that really surprised me and captivated me.

This game is the one MMO that has actually kept me around. Sure, I'll go try other games every now and then, but I always come back.

Final Fantasy did a lot for Square, saved their entire company if I remember correctly. It's nice to see them remain loyal when the franchise was experiencing a...'rough patch' (Post Abyssea era XI, XIV 1.0, XIII) and devote efforts into returning the favour.

1.0 was built into a fairly decent game by the end, to be honest.
It just couldn't recover from it's publicity without such drastic measures.

Is this an actual thank you thread, or a stealthy way to complain about Wildstar?

It's funny. In most situations, the business thanks the customer not the other way around. Can't remember the last time I walked into Walmart and thanked them from the bottom of my heart for waking up at 4am, keeping their shelves stocked and having cheap prices.

I feel 'bottom of my heart' is a little overkill for your sentiment. A "Thank you for all your hard work" would have really got the message across, but when you add 'from the bottom of my heart' it makes it seem like you hold an unhealthy connection to the brand of Square Enix and/or this dev team.

I agree the "thank you from the bottom of my heart" is a bit much.

But you know what sucks? Having a soul-sucking, thankless job. Programming, stocking shelves, custodial... to name a few. When I come into work (as a manager) I thank my employees. When I go out, I treat the staff with respect and give them genuine thanks for being great at what they do. Because I know how tough it is being in a position like this--I've been there myself. Their faces really, truly light up.
So maybe you should thank that Walmart employee sometime, and watch how it makes them feel. And ya know what? I get exceptional results from going out of my way to treat people well, even when I don't know them.

My bad, I thank Wal-mart employees, just not 'from the bottom of my heart'. I always say "thanks" to the staff who helps me find something, or to the cashier. Further, I meant that I don't go out of my way to thank them randomly. I'll thank them when they do something, but not just write up a letter at random. That's all I meant there.

That said, after working as a team leader of the front end of Target, I know that 99.9% of customers do not do this. 100% of my team thanked every guest every time (or at least they were supposed to).

In terms of Square Enix, I do not think I have ever heard the dev team thank us for being their customers (perhaps I've just missed it though?). This is outside of the automatic "Thank you for your payment" email.

Yep. You make an app, you can have thousands of users you don't know about because they don't thank you for the hard work, but as soon as one user has a problem, the sky is falling. As someone who has done some programming myself, I can empathise with that. But unfortunately we just have to toughen up and accept it.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
