I expect Regula van Hydrus to act as Kefka's stand-in for the Warring Triad content. He won't be as unpredictable as Kefka, but I think he'll add an interesting perspective to the roll of Triad Controller.

I think Elidibus so far is an amazing villain, he has the power to really take care of us whenever he wants (which is a lot considering how incredibly strong we are...), but he doesn`t, he needs us in some way probably so... He just encourages us enough to rise up to his schemes and grow, probably to use us later.
The problem here is, that we are not mere heroes, not even overpowered heroes, we are borderline gods at this point, nothing is really threatening to us as saviors made flesh of this land. The Warriors of Darkness are my hope for that to change, for the Warrior of Light to be defeated finally and be brought to his knees, and for it to start all over. Because heavensward was not about US losing it all, we just came to a new land that needed our light to be guided in our role of near omnipotent savior... So, is hard for anything to look like a challenge when we are basically ironclad in plot armor and we wield the sword of deus machina. That is what has to stop. The Warrior of Light has to be defeated.
As long as we keep being this perfect, invincible, godlike powered, blessed, etc, etc, etc. No enemy will really look like a good enemy.

Actually the story i suspect will have a good baddie soon enough if you pay attention to the cut scenes and the bits with Hydalyn the Moon is a key hint.

Does anyone else find it funny the OP is saying they are memorable then spells Kefka wrong? Lol
I think there are some decent villains in ffxiv, Nael van darnus from 1.0 and the meteor project to wipe out Eorzea, Gaius the main villain of 2.0 he wants to take over Eorzea with the ultima weapon. We have the Ascians a villain throughout 2.0 and 3.0 who want to awaken their God. We have Ice heart, a semi-villain turned friend using summoning to bring about the end of the dragonsong war. We have some major enemies that have popped up, warriors of darkness, Nidhogg, King Thordan, the warring triad, the beast tribes and their primals.
We may not have some super villain like sephiroth or kefka but that doesn't really work in a constantly evolving game. Closest thing would be the Ascians for now as they are our primary enemy that we are trying to stop and the ones causing all the problems we face like teaching everyone and their mother how to summon a primal. As for some kind of rival character, I think Gaius fills that spot just fine or the warrior of darkness, I could see them appearing in dissidia.

Zolus zos Galvus aka Vayne Solidor wannabe.

Isn't he Varis? Anyway, the similarities (aside skin and hair color lol) are so strong on the few cutscenes we have seen him, i wouldn`t be surprised if the ends up taking control of Azys Lla and using it as a Sky Fortress to wipe over a large city while merging with Baha-- Ok, not Bahamut, but what about Nidhogg...? And then we blame the Occuri--- Um... The voidsent!
We've had plenty of intriguing antagonists. The issue, I find, is that they're not allowed to win due to the sheer amount of plot armour that surrounds the Warrior of Light and the Scions.

oh yeah, he's Varis. Solus was his dead granddad.Isn't he Varis? ..., did we forget about the evil emporer from the imperial army of evil?
Or the dude chilling on the moon? There was that dude. You know... Evil man... Chilling on the moon like it's just a Tuesday...
I think the bigger issue is that sometimes these antagonist are soooooo drawn out through the storyline people just forget about them. That and main story = easy , the players focusing on endgame instead which (with some exception) is side stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I love a deep plot that takes several chapters to complete. It would be nice though to get a humanistic antagonist who's cool, deadly and takes a string (not a series of strings) Of quests to fight.
Garlemald isn't 'evil'. It's morally grey - like pretty much every antagonist in the game bar a select few.
