I could of sworn there were threads back in 2013 of players complaining they had large amounts of their Gil confiscated because it ended up being rmt Gil that they had unknowingly obtained from the market board

I'm almost positive you're referring to the early days of FF when they overzealously temp banned a lot of people who were excellent at making gil and SE thought they must have RMT involvements. Most were let off the hook and they haven't been as ambitious in attacking RMT's since out of fear of falsely banning legit rich players.
Generally, removal from down the chain of unrelated parties isn't standard practice because of so many variables to unnecessarily deal with (and likely be in the wrong for as a GM or whatever). While it's possible for such a thing to happen in any game, it's not probable in the slightest.

Possibly, this is the thread I was thinking of http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...k-on-this-game.

Selling it for 200k when it's so rare is basically handing almost 20mil profit to someone else when they flip it.
Yeah, that's a hugely outdated thread. x_xPossibly, this is the thread I was thinking of http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...k-on-this-game.

On some Japanese servers the mount is going for 2 million. On my server which is Excalibur they were around 9 million yesterday. Those prices are also the reason why we have gil-sellers too. I hear the Jap servers are only a fraction of what we post them for and they also have no sellers. We are to money hungry and gil-sellers feed off that. To answer the question though, yes if the buyer got the gil illegal the gil may be revoked, no idea if they will give the mount back though.
