Personally, I have never had inventory problems in this game. That doesn't negate the fact that the inventory system is abysmal. Please, Square, just copy Guild Wars 2 and get it over with.

Wait what? lol. That's cute.
Sorry but one does not "Simply buy back materials when you need them." unless you got shit tons of gil, and if you do, that's horribly inefficient.
I could go on for hours with how many materials most crafts need, ESPECIALLY Post-HW crafts. Plus sooo many crafts need LARGE amount of materials. Post Heavensward crafts HEAVILY relies on cross crafts, most significantly, alchemy (All those damn dissolvents.)
..Have you even reached to level 50 on your crafts yet? I bet not.
or you would realize that one does not simply "stop hoarding".
Bottom line is, if you want your crafting to be easy, efficient, and time saving, you're gonna want to hoard lol.
or you're just gonna have a bad time.

I tossed out all my old mats that were rarely used to make more space for the new mats in 3.0, including all my Ureanus skin/leather, which was selling for 10-50 gil each. I had to pay 50k to get enough to make myself a skirt when 3.2 dropped and they were suddenly useful again. Very irritating. I have a feeling this is something that will keep happening too.

I did a lot of material dumping sometime after HQ, to make way for new materials... and I regretted it.I tossed out all my old mats that were rarely used to make more space for the new mats in 3.0, including all my Ureanus skin/leather, which was selling for 10-50 gil each. I always hoard materials that can't be farm by regular means (Gathering, etc). Like coke, potash, etc. I've come to accept that SE is always going to find ways to make us use them just because they're like that.
and that's why one does not simply "Stop hoarding". lol...

You do have tons of gil. You sold everything, remember? You're buying it back with the gil you got from it.
Master crafter throughout 2.x.Have you even reached to level 50 on your crafts yet? I bet not.

"I need 9 Potash for this synthesis, but they're only being sold in stacks of 99"
Efficiency!
Oh but I can sell the 90 I'm not using, because XIVs market isn't in the slightest bit volatile... People don't undercut like maniacs and new recipes don't rapidly inflate the price of previously "worthless" materials all the time...
