That's a giant normal looking sword. Its not on fire or glowing or leaking anything. I don't see what is so outrageous with Clouds weapon?Yeah, the FF series has always been known for it's realistic-looking weapons.
Um.
Not so much.

The current designs are no wilder than what's been in the series for years.
Ifrit weapons are fine, IMO. The PGL and THM weapons look a little odd, but they're still fine.

Wow, i'm off a few days and that suddenly makes me wrong? The vid was posted 14 hours ago and the patch is Oct 4th then. Its the final deal man.
I'm on no high horse. This is a forum, people are asking questions and putting their thoughts in. I defend my position because this is what you do during discussions. I asked for them, they are coming but mixed in with crap (complaining of whining and other stuff unrelated? I asked opinions on weapons)
actually by saying this, your pretty much shooting down your own argument as I'm almost positive the majority of players like the weapons..Sir I understand that everyone can not be in love with the same design. I've said that throughout this topic. However there is a responsibility especially with MMOs that there is a general need to have items at least be agreeable by majority. These fall out of that general area.
I am not sterotyping korean designers. It is a fact that all major and free to play korean MMOs are like this. A sterotype isn't one if it's true sir. Show me some that are not like this and I will redact that descriptive comment.
and as others have said there are plenty of wild FF weapons, these are fine.
the bow is sorta clunky, however it's not too bad, honestly. And the faint glow makes sense.

Do you know anything about swords at all? That sword would easily weigh twice or three times what Cloud weighs. He wouldn't be able to pick it up. And even if he could, he wouldn't have the leverage to use the sword effectively, if at all. It would actually make an extremely poor weapon.
That's worse than a sword being on fire or dripping acid. It makes no logical sense at all; even if he was super-strong, physics still exist. So, I think it's entirely fair to say that ideas about what would or wouldn't be realistic looking have been abandoned by this series long, long ago.
Why don't you just give it a go in-game and see if you like it or not? Also, there are many new swords being added in the new update and the Materia system will allow you to pimp one of those out to your heart's extent, more powerful than any of these drops. Let those of us who like the style enjoy it, and focus on what YOU like... rather than slagging the devs and calling it 'poor design,' based on nothing more than your opinion really.
I think the dagger for Thaumaturge is the coolest of all of them. Looks awesome with the blue gem on the end.
Hey Rath, Good to see you in the discussion.
How does this shoot my argument down? I see positive also I hear a lot of negative. So if you can say you get a lot of positive and me negative then Id say there is a good mix for both love and hate or at least dislike.

The sword works for him and his story. He is Ex-Soldier and genetically modified. The sword also fits FF7's grungy atmosphere. He can wield the sword because he has the strength. Physics, yes I understand. Maybe he still couldn't swing it. But the fact is it doesn't look out of place for him and his environment. same for Sephiroth's long katana. It fit's his player. It's kind of like an oxymoron too. He is small and thin but not frail and his sword is giant and heavy. I'd call that thoughtfulness and brilliant. It fits. Things like that are a little bit different than with an MMO. Your character in an MMO doesn't have it's own back story really. I mean in FFXIV we got the The Echo but that doesn't aid anything.
Im all for letting ppl enjoy things, i don't think my posts would make ppl not enjoy them.

meant this " However there is a responsibility especially with MMOs that there is a general need to have items at least be agreeable by majority. These fall out of that general area."
they don't fall out of the general area, as it would seem a majority of players actually approve of them, that's all i'm saying![]()

yes because every universe (considering there are multiples) and every FANTASY world, has the same laws of physics :P yes we can definitely determine that.. for all we know they could have light weight super materials..Do you know anything about swords at all? That sword would easily weigh twice or three times what Cloud weighs. He wouldn't be able to pick it up. And even if he could, he wouldn't have the leverage to use the sword effectively, if at all.
