Exactly this, and with relics I don't think anyone in their right mind would be buying those mats, which at least on sarg averaged about 100k then and even now. 100k gil for 1800 tomes? No thanks, good riddance to that useless exchange option.Eh, not really? 1800 law got you one of an item you needed 5 of to do anything with. If you were just trying to grind out these items, favors were still loads faster. The effect of making them purchaseable with law was really just to give combat-only players a law sink and gil stream while deflating the price of the mats a little. Adding them to the 60 dungeons feels like they're trying to keep that same purpose in mind, so they probably made them rare so they'd flow into the economy at a similar rate.

They're also available for exchange with brass spoils. This gets ignored every time its brought up though. People are more content to bitch about weekly lockouts than to go grind diadem.

It's easier to break in to Fort Knox using only a plastic spoon & a rotten cucumber than getting into Diadem on most servers at the moment. If you do manage to get in, you have a chance of zero spoils for your work given the RNG of the gear allocation. Diadem is a white elephant.

Got an Odorless Fat in Fractal yesterday in the last chest. Was wondering why it was going for 120k+ in the MB. Now i do =)
Well they wouldn't want to stop us getting countless amounts of pointless, pointless, pointless, pointless, pointless, pointless, pointless clear prisms.
And the mats to exchange for HQ are through steel spoils. *trying to get into the Diadem for the first time, watches queue lose players because of how long it takes and that causes it to not pop* Maybe it will be better over the weekend or maybe I can LS a group of 8 to go in gathering together. At this rate I may have a rank 10 airship before the DF queue pops.

Ummm... I don't know what kind of servers you guys are on, but diadem PFs on Gilgamesh have come back with people grinding spoils for materia. There are also diadem gathering linkshells around; you just have to look. Where do you think steamed staff comes from?
Can't get in? Look beyond df.
Well, I see nothing in the patch notes about making materials more available.
I hope that's just an oversight, since there's really nothing left in the game that interests me.

Leviathan, since 3.2 I've seen three PFs for Diadem, two being kill only & one being gathering only. None of them got more than 3-4 joiners in an hour. The only Diadem runs occurring regularly are those by FCs & are filled with FC members.Ummm... Two of my FC friends joined a DF Diadem yesterday & 4 of the team went off gathering yet happily looted everything from mob chests whilst refusing to help. In the end they had to drop & eat the lockout. PF or DF it's very unlikely you'll get a full party. You're on one of the two largest servers so your experience is completely incomparable to others, as has been shown time & time again for various content.
So... method #1 is to gather stuff to turn in for scrip, which you then convert into tokens, to buy favors, which are used to gather even more crap (with a sh*tty drop rate no less), which is then cashed in for crafting materials.
Method #2 is to farm an instance that maybe 3 people on an entire server actually do, or coerce your FC mates into helping you (which they might do once or twice, but not enough to make it worthwhile), turn in gear for a pittance of currency that is exchanged for another currency that can be used to buy crafting materials.
And if you NQ the synth, you have to start all over again.
Who's dumb f*cking idea was this?
Just put the mats in dungeon chest drops like 2.x, and make crafters happy.
