The thing I think when I see these posts is that while they do have a lot of good points, implying something is flawed is a subjective opinion. It sounds like you want what we thought diadem would've been for endgame, but of course the whole "ps3 limitations" kills that before it can get off the ground. There's also the fact that some people may be playing a certain game (in this case FFXIV) BECAUSE it functions as it does. If SE truly listened to all these "change the game to be this, this and this" sure a portion of the player base may be happy, but an equal portion of it may be unhappy. I'd like to see some more variety sure but I'm sure like many other who are still playing I'm content with how it is now, if I wasn't I wouldn't be playing.

They don't need to change the game. They need to add more variety. All endgame is the same, and that's boring. That's what they're saying.

Implying something is flawed means that it needs to be changed though, at least to me. I'm all for more variety, but it seems like every time SE tries something variety people do it for a day or two then abandon it almost entirely. I agree with the OP that we could use something different but I wouldn't get my hopes up for it.

Well, I probably worded it poorly. Adding more variety is a change.

I mean, what do we have?

Dungeons: Corridors with trash and bosses.
24-man raids: Corridors with trash and bosses.
8-man raids: Corridors with trash and bosses.
    Trials: Bosses.

Can't we change it up a little? Someone else mentioned Nyzul Isle. I'd agree with that. In fact, I'd like to see an adaptation of all of Assault. I liked those missions, and they were all different. ToAU had some great content variety.

I was trying so so so so so so so hard not to bring up ffxi since that gets you instantaneous hatred from very loud and vocal people.

But yes mixing the mechanical difficulty level of ffxiv with aspects of dynamis, salvage, nyzul, assault and such, while not completely duplicating them, would be almost exactly what I am talking about.

We can keep the current form of endgame too, even ffxi had einherjar, but it wouldn't have been anything with nothing but reskinned einherjars every 3 months, and in ffxiv its just that every patch. And someone mentioned diadem, gold saucer and such. That is far from the endgame I am talking about. I don't see how triple triad and coil could be comparable in any way shape or form.

They tried to do something different with the Steps of Faith and look how well that turned out.

That's just it, though. Yoshida invalidated all of the options we had in FFXI when he took over, raised the level caps, and added those mini-expansions. That's when we started on the gear tredmill and all of the hardcore raiders quit for other MMOs. There's almost no chance he'll add any of that here.

I don't think Yoshida actually plays mmos, no matter what he likes to say. I think he is good at marketing but most likely does not let a dev who may actually be a hardcore and long term mmo player who is familiar with the genre and the player base diversity really have any creative license.

Like a ceo who sits behind a desk and has no real world experience but likes to make judgement calls on what he thinks would sell the best because its shiney and not strive to sell the best because it is the best, the most diverse, creative, enjoyable and unique.

You can use the sandbox as a platform but unless you can improve on it with some actual creativity and ingenuity then you just get redundancy which breeds familiarity and resistance to advancement of a genre.

hmm well i dont have any problem with the endgame content, neither do i see it flawed, actually its perfect for me and the 2-4 hours i have to play per day. it gives me enough time to do other stuff in game as well (like crafting , and talking/interacting with other people :P ) without falling behind with gear progression to much ^^

i dont think a hardcore mmo gamer would be some sort of ceo in a company , because the only thing someone like that will be doing is playing and complaining on internet forums :P
