3* HQ crafting with 387 cp .. eh what ?

So, friend of mine does 3* HQ food, with only 387 CP. He uses the new food, that boosts craftmansship and control to reach the required stats.
How does he HQ with such low CP ? And appearently it isnt just luck. Any rotation I havent found on the Net yet ? I really would love to know, how he does it ._.

The short version is almost definitely "He uses his Good procs on Tricks of the Trade instead of Precise Touch". I don't know exactly what your friend is doing, but the crafting method I've adopted for 2-star and 3-star synths is basically to pad the length of my synth into as many steps as possible (ie: creating as many opportunities for Good procs as possible) and to generate as much CP as I can from TotT. I tend to use food and have a full 470 max CP, but I often end a synth with 110-150+ CP remaining, even on three-star crafts with zero starting quality.

Using ToT over precise touc. I've noticed that you get a more good conditions than the 2 star crafts.

I follow other comment about ToT
    Depending of your rotation
3 star give more ToT opportunity which allow you to start with less CP

Is it a specialist skill? Does heart of the whatever-have-you give you a good every other turn for 7 steps or something? I haven't used the specialist kills much and am still gearing so haven't tried 3*s yet. xD Just a guess. It's 60 CP, right? But you get like at least 3 procs so it pays for itself if all you use it for is TotT.

I would guess the other way around. With HQ mats you only need to get IQ up to 6-7 to hit 100%.

I could macro a 3* rotation with 8 Hasty Touches with less than 387 CP, any ToT would mean a Precise/Basic instead of a Hasty or Innovation for the BB.

Actually this makes total sense. I only use my 48CP food half the time. Part of the other time I use some 22 CP food. The other I use no food. Essentially how you do it is you run Rath's rotation but you skip the SH (for the x2 PbP) While this runs some risk, but the majority of the time they succeed. But after skipping the SHI and grab one ToT you'll have saved 40 CP (which is basically the whole difference between his CP and max CP). Its really easy to grab a second ToT during the first FS cycle, and at that point you're pretty much golden for making HQ.

I will note that when doing so, you do have to buffer with some extra quality as you're already banking on some favorable RNG at the start and you don't want to bank on having favorable RNG the whole synth. So I assume he plays it a bit safer with more HQ mats prepared.

Specifically I would bet he's running his rotation as follows (roughly):

So I was wrong in that, his CP is still high enough to use SHI at the start comfortably. So technically you could comfortably loose another 23 CP lower than what he has and HQ 3 star goods most of the time. Sounds nutty but I do it in practice all the time (HQing without any food).
