    Like Nyghtmarerobu said, some of you are expecting way too much from this SSS thing. It's a damn dummy that's just there to show you how much damage you're capable of doing under ideal conditions. Some of you are arguing that it's not representative of tank/healer damage in a fight (NO SHIT!?) and as such SSS needs improvements to compensate for that. Unfortunately, the only way to accurately gauge tank/healer damage is to stick them in the fight itself.

    So someone'll probably say "well why doesn't SE just turn SSS into a simulation of the fight with its mechanics and stuff?". Well, child, at that point, you might as well be doing the ACTUAL fight itself since it'll be the same as the simulation...

    The idea of SSS is for you to test your rotation and see if you're where you should be. It takes into account downtime and the like in terms of how quickly you'll kill it. Its intended use is to see if you are doing enough damage to a boss during the times when you are attacking it that you are making effective progress toward killing the fight fast enough. If you're NOT dpsing effectively on your Job when you have the opportunity to, you're NOT going to be helping the group as well as you could be.

    SSS is designed to have you put yourself to the test and see if you can/should be doing better than you currently are.

    The Healer requirements are higher than Tanks simply because Healers do more damage than Tanks do in the current landscape. The difference is that Healers spend most of the time healing and a little time DPSing (yes, even Scholars) whereas Tanks spend the ENTIRE FIGHT DPSing (sometimes a bit weaker than normal, but still DPSing!) which makes those numbers more or less even out (with Tanks generally being ahead unless the fight explicitly favors solo-healing and one particular healer job's dps)

    SSS is nothing more then a gear check to see if youre comfotably geared enough to tackle the content.
    And it works fine for what it is.

    My reasons for asking for these modes are more to do with deep-seeded community problems such as people expecting you to be perfect the moment you step into a fight and then will kick you for not living up to their standards, or trying to find content that bridges the gap between "too easy" (most roulette content) and "would like to improve on".

    There is a huge difference between being able to whack at a dummy for 3 min and actually maintaining similar DPS while dealing with mechanics (blm is a good example of this), and let's be honest that the community in general is not very forgiving to those lacking in experience. Therefore, if I can have somewhere I can practice and improve my skills as a player on my own, without impacting negatively on another group or dealing with snobbery/elitism, why is this a bad thing?

    EDIT: BTW, to answer your question: Hall of the novice and guildhests, while good for beginner players, are a little too basic for intermediate players wanting to improve

    In a certain other MMORPG which will remain nameless. They brought out a mode that allowed you to test all roles and would restrict you to doing certain end game content if you could pass different difficulty levels.

    If you wanna practice the mechanics of a fight, then why not just do the fight itself?

    Proving grounds in Warcraft. Many of us have played the damn game for years (surprise) so it's not a taboo or anything. If anything SE needs to step the heck up with the addon support that was mentioned ages ago, at the time when they were still working on 2.0 (is it even going to happen) They can't protect everyone's feelings (mainly the dps) with this parser nonsense that has been going on since release.

    You know why PvP dont show the names of your rivals until the end of the match? so you feel you are fighting NPCs and not feel remorse attacking or killing them.

    SE cares about or " feelings " ( somehow?), so, an official parser would allow people posting Party Finder "if you don't have #XXXX DPS you cant join" and that is discriminating for SE. (people still classifies groups in PF by learning, clear, or farm, but would be more harsh with numbers involved)

    I think SSS is a tool just to check if you have correct gear and your rotation is good ( not optimal), if you cant beat the dummy, read some guides or wait weeks to get your tombstones, more that that, use other "magic tools" to give you a more accurate measurement.
