Please Remove the Materia Melding Crafter Restriction

Why don't you stop presuming you have some moral high ground to tell others how they should be playing the game. This is a MMO, it needs to change as the needs of the players change.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current system other than the fact that YOU DON'T WANT TO BE BOTHERED dealing with a crafter. I meld for my friends all the time. It's actually a lot of fun and a good time to socialize with people you might not have seen in awhile. Raiders aren't special although they want to be deemed as special and if they need it has to be the way to go right?

Don't try to fault the system to meet your personal needs.

*snipped* Apparently, crafters don't charge any fees or expect any tips for melding, so the crafter isn't getting gil from the raider either, meaning there is no economic value in this restriction?

Kinda my thoughts exactly. If most crafters don't expect tips I don't see a loss here. Aside from not being bombarded by people looking for melds in cities. I'm of the camp that I'd like to be able to do basic melds on gear of any class I have to 60 without tracking someone down to click a button for me and leave high level melding to crafters only. I don't mind interacting with people but on a personal level pre this patch I never melded anything aside from what the relic forced me to because I feel about shout chat usage about the same as most people feel about /actually/ shouting in public: uncomfortable and rude. Besides I'm a dirty casual who has little need of it just to farm pigeons and do expert roulette.

If most crafters are as kindhearted as everyone says then as things stand its really just a time loss for both parties and the only ones who would suffer if melding was made a bit more accessible would be those /expecting/ large tips. Which for basic melds at least is pretty much like someone trying to charge you to hit the button for your floor in an elevator. There is a lot of middle ground here and seeing as this whole 'melds are now almost required for even casual content' thing is a change to the way things have been, it seems like a good time to find some.

Oh really. I read the other one too which you decided to remove. Relative to dignify... I'm not looking for your approval. Seriously, you've done nothing to earn the right to meld other than voice your wish here to be able to do it without working for it and that's a fact. You earn the right to be an omni-crafter and then come here and say you think giving up that as a part of your role is just fine and dandy.

And I deleted it right after I posted too because it was unfair for me to say that. I'm not going to level every job to 60. It just isn't going to happen. I don't have all the jobs I even LIKE leveled to 60. I don't know you. I don't know where you come from. You don't know me either, so maybe you should cease the personal attacks. You ask why I should ask for something I didn't "earn?" I don't think it's anything that should have to be earned at all. My basic gear has never required a crafter before. Why should I have to require a crafter now? I was mostly self sufficient prior to this patch. Now, all of the sudden, I'm not self sufficient.

Do you think that comes from a sense of entitlement? Am I lazy because I didn't want or need crafting jobs and suddenly now I need most of them leveled for what is a rather inconsequential perk to the job? I don't even want to take all melding away from crafters. I just want to be able to put 2 materia in my lore gear. If it's advanced melding then it should remain with crafters in person. If it is some sort of crafted item that I have to use as a catalyst then that's fine with me too. This whole topic was not just to request that the melding requirements be changed, but to seek a realistic solution that is fair to all. Several people have come forth with good ideas: ideas that would keep crafters at the center of the process while at the same time allowing noncrafters to do it themselves though buying a crafted item off the boards.

Sorry there are no personal attacks, just how I feel about the matter and most crafters I suspect. Get over the fact we don't agree with you. I can only hope that the dev team isn't goaded into devaluing crafters because now raider want to be able to meld gear.

You're free to disagree all you want. This was bound to be an issue that some are going to be all for and some are going to be all against. Implying people are lazy is a personal attack. Disagree all you want. You have no more shot of convincing me that this is a horrible idea than I have of convincing you that it's a good idea.

I didn't call you lazy. Don't put words in my mouth to suit your agenda. The fact you don't want to level crafters is YOUR CHOICE not mine. Trying to spin my comments to your liking doesn't cut it, sorry. And to be clear my comments aren't directed at you specifically but the community in this thread pushing for the devaluation of the crafter. This is something we earned and we're not about to give it up without expressing out point of view.

And I'm done with this back and forth. We'll have to agree to disagree.
