I believe she means that if she wanted to take a picture of a devilishly handsome Elezen gentleman who never smiles (for good reason), she could enter Group Pose mode and smile to force him to smile as well.

The appeal is self-explanatory but at the same time some (primarily Japanese) fans will probably feel uncomfortable with the idea that someone else can effectively force them to do things they didn't actually do, in secret. Perhaps I'm wrong about that, but I can easily imagine some people finding it irritating.

This is exactly what I meant, but I guess I can see how some might be upset by having their character forced to do something. Except that in reality they aren't being forced to on THEIR screen. In grouppose, while any player on the screen is included in the shot, Im pretty sure only party members are effected by the actual emote portion of the grouppose function. And /grouppose doesn't notify the other players your even taking a screen shot. So they wouldnt even know unless you told them or showed them the screenshot. At any rate, it really is just a screenshot.
I wonder what some people would think knowing that I have screenshots of random players I dont even know, and I just take screenshots of them because I found the composition of their character in a specific spot interesting. I'm sure Im not the only player who has screenies of other players, I'm sure that makes certain players uncomfortable, but I doubt SE would remove the screenshot function because of it.

This is kind of like that.
