I've lost count the number of times I've waited out a "roll squatter" in Syrcus Tower and World of Darkness. They always think that people will get tired of waiting and leave. But no dice. I will wait you out for that minion! I'll just make myself comfy, get something to drink, watching a Youtube video, go to the bathroom, take the dogs out...
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
If I see folks do this, we'll let's just say I am glad I have myself a 3DS/Tablet. Plenty to do while waiting for people to decide to lot.
On this one, I say something in party. Have never had anyone ignore it. I mention it, and a few seconds later it's in my Inventory (or someone elses). You have to wait for 5 minutes to pass to get eventually the item that is a upgrade for your Monk, just because that synched-down level 60 tank in his Leveling Roulette isn't even bothering to look at the loot table and lets that pink speck of a notification rot in the lower right corner of his/her HUD.
As for raid squatters. You say who has time to wait 5 minutes? I do if they are squatting on it. I'll get up and grab a soda. Especially if I need the item.
its simple, you can see who didnt roll, just read your chat. call them out by name and remind them that roll squatting is a form of griefing and is a bannable offense. Whether true or not it is irrelevant.
I wont' wait out a single item, but I'll wait for the items I passed on to be distributed first before rolling on the last one. I pass the ones I'm not targetting instantly.
As others have said; it's all because of this crappy loot system. Is what it is at the end of the day. I just tab out and read a manga while waiting.
I used to do the roll on the item I want and not pass the items I don't want game until I realized that others were doing it resulting in the Mexican stand off. This seems like a reasonable suggestion when faced with going after a specific item.
Lowering the time for lot is not a good idea. I used to raid, and sometimes it would take a majority of those 5 minutes just to decide who would get to lot what piece of gear. We should be able to kick people while in battle though.
All they would need to do is remove the timer in full 8/8 premades. and lower the default timer to 120 seconds.
I often don't roll in lower level dungeons because, well...I kinda want the item, but only if nobody else wants it or needs it for a secondary class (which can only be done with a greed roll). So if everyone passes while I don't roll at all, the item comes to me by default, whereas if I simply passed as well the item would be gone.
Now, if I could see what the others rolled, I could simply greed/pass accordingly. But alas...
I think a 60 second timer is plenty of time. Not sure what they were thinking with 5 minutes.
