The relic quest also had an element of randomness to it. We didn't beat a set number of FATEs to get the drop. Some people got it first try, others took weeks to get the same drop.
I meant more of the non FATE ones. You know, the ones where you have to grind your butt off for those unidentifiable items that people hated.
That was more a problem with the majority of the questline being back-ended to a single upgrade. if we'd gotten more marginal upgrades in between people would have felt as though they were progressing. Yes, that could happen here as well. It jsut depends on how SE wants to handle the situation. The answer is almost always: very poorly.
Honestly I lost all hope on farming that thing, I think total I ran it at least 30-40 times and no drops and knowing my luck on rolls I won't win the first time it does drop if it ever does. Probably just wait till its luck helping an FC member or they get nerfed. As it has been said, its not keeping content alive cus most people farming are preset pro's who wouldn't dream of letting a new person join them. At least what I have seen on my server.

I was lucky enough to get Ravana bird on my 8th run... Does that mean it saved me 91 more runs if devs implemented your proposal?
I don't think a lot of you folks understand what it means to keep content alive in an MMORPG. In general, it has absolutely nothing to do with new people. That could be a benefit in some way or the obvious intent (e.g. Low level roulette), but if the purpose is to keep old content active, it doesn't matter who does it. Participation is there, be it vet or new, mission accomplished.Honestly I lost all hope on farming that thing, I think total I ran it at least 30-40 times and no drops and knowing my luck on rolls I won't win the first time it does drop if it ever does. Another thing to point out is how RNG works with intentionally low chances to drop. 30-40 attempts is hardly noteworthy for something that's likely a maximum of 2% drop chance, though quite possibly lower than 1%. Realistically speaking, you'd have to clear the content hundreds of times to be afforded the most likely occurrence of even seeing it drop before we start to consider the dice roll to obtain it. The nice thing about XIV is that they will likely increase the drop chance once the prestige has had time to be worn off, unlike some other games. The OPs suggestion of the value of the item being quantified is always an option to run with, but that's up to the devs how they view the items value. Do they want it to be so prestigious that it's not quantifiable? Or do they want to put a value on something that would otherwise be left up to the players who obtain them through current means?
I would be all for this I think.
I have over 300 Levi clears and still never got that pony

Sorry OP, but this is the whole point behind these mounts. If we could get them any other way, people wouldn't farm and the content wouldn't be run multiple times. Personally, I like it. They aren't anything more than collectables after all.
actually if they set it for a lot of tokens (200-500-even 1000), that's A LOT of farming that people would do. But if you're the unluckyest human out there, there would be a lgiht at the end of your tunnel. IT might even encourage people to clear it for newbies, because they would know that the mount will be guaranteed at one point and not stolen from them.
Not at all. It'd be treated like the weapons. You got lucky and got your drop. The other 7 party members however didn't lose their time. They got 8 totems and need 91 more for the mount. Keep the drop rate as is. So if you get it on your way 100 great! Awesome! If you never get it you know that 100 clears will still net you the mount.
Its the reason getting weapons from ex fights are so much better now. Even if it doesn't drop or someone out rolls you you know that in 10 clears you'll get it.
