I really don't think we need a new thread for this for every event and update. Maybe make one general thread?

I'm in the other camp, I prefer that we get some gender locked items in the same way I like Grand Company, race, and job exclusive gear. I want our choices to actually mean something and in FFXIV so far the only difference any choice we make gets us is in some small cosmetic differences and I'd prefer we not lose that.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.

But... but... those gloves... my special snowflake feelings will be crushed...
You know... That "solution" is getting really annoying. Because while this is a game and doesn't really compare all that well to RL, to me it reads like a small-scale version of, "Don't like that the guys at your job get a slightly higher salary than you? Have gender reassignment surgery! Then you won't have that problem anymore! :D"
Alternatively, it's the way people "treat" bullying. Instead of solving the issue, and dealing with the bullies, they move (or recommend to move) the bullied person to a different school. That way, they're not bullied anymore! :D Yay! Problem solved! *splashes everyone with bucket-loads of sarcasm*
It... doesn't work that way. People play the character gender they like to play as, and should have equal opportunities for glamour inside the game. After all, one of the statements made at the start of ARR regarding racial stats, and how men and women (of the same race) started with the same stats, was that they didn't want people to feel as if their choice of character gender would have an impact on what they could do in the game. Then they implemented glamour, and apparently threw that sentiment out the window.

When I read this thread I imagined that a man is getting angry because he's not allowed to wear girl clothes. I couldn't stop laughing.
Why? Would it be equally laughable if a woman was getting angry because she wasn't allowed to wear men's clothes, like, say, trousers?
No, I'm not asking that to be antagonistic. I'm asking because I really don't see the difference. Both options involve preventing one person from wearing what they want to wear based on what's between their legs. Yes, one is considered 'normal' today, and one isn't, but especially for toddlers it used to be the other way around, and it wasn't too long ago that a woman in trousers was considered equally preposterous. Times change.
And please explain to me why a pair of gloves would be inappropriate for one gender to wear?

How about no? Their game, they decide what goes in, thinking most of you folks have put in your suggestion and it has been ignored. How about you stop it already?

Because it's just a game and the fact that you're so serious about it is funnyWhy? Would it be equally laughable if a woman was getting angry because she wasn't allowed to wear men's clothes, like, say, trousers?

Stop trying to turn this into some OMGEQUALITY shit, it's so tired
It's just a game, yes. Does that mean that my gaming experience is worth less than, for example, Bladesinger's experience (the poster before you)? And where were all the people with your opinion when the huge outrage about the Gambler coat went on? People were absolutely livid that a gearset based on a canon character from a previous FF game (Setzer from FFVI) was rumoured to be male-only, while the female-only outfit was "just a playboy bunny". And yes, I was one of the people who agreed that it would not be fair if that was the case.
But once it was made clear that the Gambler gearset was going to be unisex, all outrage over the unfairness died away. That's what I find so difficult to understand. Why it's okay to be upset that male characters get something that female characters don't, but that it's 'funny' and 'laughable' when people get upset that female characters get something that male characters don't.
