During 3.2 Alex story we are given a bit of a hint to what may happen at the end of Alexander story.

It appears the Engima Codex was writen by Mide's ancestor who was a Au Ra with Blue hair.

Mide has blue hair.


Alexander has the power to travel back in time and change history.

Every single event for Alex story has already been recorded inside a old book that the leader of the Illuminati has even though Alexander's ability to time travel was not active yet.

either this is going to be a Mide is her own ancestor plot or we're getting a type of Back to the Future thing....

There is Option 3:

Mide's ancestor is her lover sent back into the past.

The book actually a timeshifted chronicle of Alexander's defeat at the Hands of the Warrior of Light. The Illuminati leader does not realize it because of the different perspectives Spoken and Goblins.

Or you know... Mide could be the reason Alexander was asleep to begin with. Mide. Is Alexander! Or was. I mean, there's too many clues that she's not who she lets on. She knows a bit too much about how Alexander works, much more so than some tome might entreat. Further, both she and Alexander have the same 'damage' to their face. And then there's the songs from Gordias. The first boss song is a duet with a male and female singer. The last boss song is just a man singing suggesting the golbin-born rebirth instilled a new personality or perhaps just woke the other half of Alexander's personality. And then there's her race. She's an Au Ra. Au Ra weren't in Eorzea until the Doman exodus, before then they've been under the heel of the Garlemald rule. So then... why is Mide an Au Ra? If anything she should be Hyur or Elezen. There's a bigger connection here and it's not time travel.

Tbh, I'm not even a Whovian (barely watched any Dr. Who), but I've been making "it's bigger on the inside" jokes since Gordias was released. Didn't know Alexander was actually the TARDIS, though.

It is said in the cutscene from a Historical record book that Backrix was reading that a Auri Xaela with Blue Hair was the one who created the Enigma Codex a hundred years ago.

Auri Xaela is the Au Ra Xaela tribe.

While immigration of tribes did not happen until recent history of Eorzea the Xaela tribe members have been know to travel far longer than the secluded Raen tribe as stated in their lore.

I have to agree that it looks likely this will end with a bootstrap paradox of some kind. Both the enigma codex itself and the prophecy appear to be displaced in time from... somewhen.

There's also the fact that when Alexander was first summoned he promptly disappeared after dragging Mide's lover into the core. Now that we know Alexander can time travel it stands to reason that this disappearance was actually a little trip through time.

My current expectation is that when we get to the end of all this something or someone will end up being sent back to the beginning and set everything in motion.
