Let's be honest, if they were on the market boards, the drop rates would b even lower otherwise they would only be like 10k each due to over farm.

Locking the relic behind the Alexander Savage would require effort. The relic requires grind, making it only time sink nothing else. It shouldn't matter how you sink the time then.
Starting with this patch the relic is already only a glamour so I don't see the problem with that.
Making gil requires effort too - and maybe even more effort than doing the old content overgeared.
I don't think so. The crystals still have to drop, only the owner changes. There could be people farming it for sale, which is one of the points, but I don't think we would be flooded by the items.
The relic is the alternative to the (usually better) raid weapons and always has been like with the original zodiac relic and Bahamut's Coil. It would make no sense to gate the new relic behind raids, people would just be spending a lot of time to get something that's inferior to what they can already get from the raids.
Effort also has multiple definitions, one of which is "The use of physical or mental energy to do something; exertion." - Sounds like that's a describing am FF XIV grind to me?
But you'll be able to upgrade it... and upgrade it... and upgrade it. Just like the zetas. 3.2 added new weapon choices, but until that dropped it was the best weapon for people who didn't raid. 3.25 will bring more relic upgrades so it gives people a chance to catch up before that releases.
It'll get a lot easier once you get all your crafters/gatherers to 60. Hang in there!
With 3.2 they removed the specialist requirement for those crafted items for the relic so the prices will likely drop now more people actually have a chance at crafting them).
