I am asking for an alternative path. This game provides different ways for people to play the game. There are some that are all about crafting and see DoW/DoM as secondary. And there are others that think the opposite. And there are yet more people that like a mix of crafting/gathering/fighting. A crafter isnt forced to engauge in fighting activities, why should a fighting class have to get involved with crafting. The way I would like to play the game is strictly as a fighting class, and to earn rewards in blood instead of through gil or craft. Now those last two options should be there if I want to use them, but I should have another alternative. And yes I do have that alternative now with the darkhold, but the rewards are sort of meh.
ya know, this conversation is exactly the same as the conversation on another thread about the full time crafters wanting access to the company chocobo's........... what was stated again.....oh yeah. if you want to be able to turn your super cool weapon into a 5 slotted materia crafted item then level your crafting. it's not hard.

like i stated in there a sacrifice is always for the good of the game when it's not that person's class that has to sacrifice.

And you know what. I fully side with the crafters. They should be able to get their company chocobos with their crafting classes. I wouldnt want them to sacrifice their playstyle, just like I dont want to sacrifice mine.

that was all that was being said on the other thread also. i could do all 3 factions of the game, but that's because i am trying to level every class. i understand others do not though and i respect that. granted, the argument i threw out about the repair was about as stupid as can be, but you see what i meant by it.

if someone only enjoys crafting then get them content to allow them to enjoy that part of the game. sure they will never hit end game dungeons or see the main story's awesome cut scenes, but i never seen them ask for that.

same with dol get some content that can make that part of the game make them feel important and feel like they are actually contributing to the game.

yes, both of those are support roles that assist the battle classes and that will never change. i've never seen an war in which 2 armies stood across the field from each other naked and without any weapons though. it took people gathering materials, producing the finished products, and the guys on the front line to actually make an army.

basically what, myself, and others have said is it felt one sided to have some equipment caravan carrying supplies to the army when the company itself has no people to produce those goods. it wouldn't matter to me if it was nothing more than leves for gatherers and crafters that just said hey go get me this or make me this because they need it on the front lines and we need to get another caravan moving. those people would need to be r25 just like the battle classes to join and help out and they got rewarded in seals.

Why would they create Grand Company quests for DoH and DoL if they weren't planning on having them join at one point or another?

the question was asked and were told that to join the company you had to be a dow/dol. they didn't say anything about being able to join later. usually when they have plans to change in the future they preface by saying "for now", but they strictly stated only those could join.

Two things right off the bat just reading that, one being more probable than the other. To get a Grand Company chocobo, you have to get a DoW/DoM class up to level 25. That doesn't mean you can't get chocobos from other means eventually.

Second, this might just be a temporary thing. As everyone knows, they're kind of rushing out airships and chocobos due to fan demand mostly, and will be adding more content related to them(such as actual mounting animations, combat, equipment, etc.) in the future. Nothing says this is permanently set in stone.

oh, i agree that eventually they probably will. my only problem is when the question was asked directly if they would be able to that they could have simply stated "not at this point, but there may be other ways in the future". that, in itself, is more of just setting themselves up for a rage fast instead of instead of actually thinking of the pr ramifications.

if someone asks me if i am going back into my profession(construction). i'm going to school now after many years to get my computer science degree. do i tell them person asking "no i will not go back to construction" or do i say "if i can get going in this new field i don't plan on going back"? one is stated as a closed no way around it i will never do something and the other is open ended and states i don't plan on it, but may if forced.

the first way if it was a former boss they would laugh if i ever needed to go back to him for a job.
the other way if i called it wasn't a complete suprise to hear from me again.
