Not all the recipes in Masterbook IV are Specialist. There's still some reason to get them all. For example, Camphor in ALC IV is used in the LTW 3* mat. Everyone assumes they need an ALC specialist to make Camphor for them, but if you look closely it's not a specialist recipe.

Best thing I can keep telling everyone is to start using your red scrips to collect crafter souls and you'll be okay.

I do not think that is possible. I believe that once you have three Souls, you need to discard one before you can get another.

I would assume that blueruckus is just referring to the ability to swap specialties. Having more souls lying around gives you the option to change one out if you need to. New specialist recipes make you want to move to a different one, or if you're willing to take the huge hit to your RCS progression, swap to a specialization to make a truckload of a specialist crafted mat and then switch back to use them.

I personally stockpiled three souls before the patch as a futureproofing measure, so I could completely change out what my specialties were given the new recipes. Haven't decided whether to use them yet, but I'm glad for the option.
