New races in FF14

Hi all,

Was thinking about this for some time and brainstorming for myself what could be possible for the next expansion. This is what i came up with.

Burmecians (Freya ff9)


So what i like about this race is that its quite different that what we have already. All races have a human like face in ff14 but this one clearly doesn't. Burmecians can easily fit in as tanks, casters or dps classes without it looking weird.

Since this expansion has a lot of content in colder area's i was hoping the next expansion might have some warmer environments, with that Burmecians can easily be put in.

Next one Ronso (kimahri ff10)



Once again a lot different then what we currently have in the game. Although i'm stil hoping next expansion wil have warmer area's like big desserts then cold area's i'm stil hoping something like the Ronso will be available to us.

As you can see in the picture they can easily fit in as tanks and melee dps. Dont see them as a caster class that much (maybe a older Ronso).


I was hoping some other people might come up with some races that might be interesting in the game.
Doesnt have to be a race that was shown to us in the Final Fantasy franchise but please something that makes sense, so no Qu race (would be verry funny though).

I'm not sure if they can add races with modified feet because of armor restrictions. (unless a current race has modified feet that I haven't noticed yet)

I'm of a similar opinion to you. Anything not completely humanoid would be welcome by me. For example, this was what Au Ra could have been from the official art of FFXIV:







And I would have loved all of the versions of it so much more! The reason why they chose humanoid again is because they tried to appeal to the looks that community would most likely like. As most of the community liked catgirls, they decided to go for a race that would look pretty and appealing again. However when all your game has is pretty races it gets boring.

And yes, animalistic races if not humanoid end up underplayed. However the way that I see it, it still brings the much needed variety into the game. Further down are examples from other MMOs that SE could choose to copy:

And why am I saying copy? There are plenty of FF examples above me that SE could use... I guess my point is... I would love a more animalistic race in design.

I'd personally prefer expanded options for what we already have.

I'd love a more beast-like race, but Au'Ra was proof that Square-Enix is only interested in making sexy cosplay races only.

I'd rather have those than Tauren from WoW.... Or werewolves that look like sewer rats.
But what I would most rather have is more options for existing races, as Cyril said.
