So are consoles holding back this game?

What about Steam players vs. those of us that downloaded the game directly or bought the CDs? I think Steam is holding this game back and should be separated since they have their glitchy interface to worry about.

I have the Steam version since it was cheaper than buying it from SE, and I just don't use Steam to open it.
I just load it directly from ffxivboot.exe

No terrible Steam overlay, problem solved.

no, it really isnt valid, and im going to tell you the same thing i told you in the thread you made; your idea is bad and goes against what the dev team wants. there is no good reason to segregate the player base, and is the primary reason this game is not on a xbox console. also, the stories about yourself and friend seem far fetched. needing voice chat for LoA? needing voice for unsynced coil? i say there is more to those two stories, and its being left out.

edit again- just in case you try to change the story, they wanted the bonus tomes.
edit- looking again, the group wouldnt even need your friend to do anything.

Yeah and I'm gonna be perfectly clear and take the kid gloves off here and say MS needs to get their head out of their posterior. I have an Xbox One (can't justify a PlayStation 4 when I already have X1 and Wii U, I got the Wii U because well Nintendo games feel unique and I love Mariokart and Smash, and I got the Xbox One as I'm training to become a universal Windows developer), and I can't play FFXIV on it. Which I think is baloney. I love playing FFXIV. But my only option is PC and I keep falling back into keyboard and mouse gameplay, whereas on my Xbox One I'd be forced into controller play (and yes, on PC I always fall back to KB/M out of comfort and muscle memory)

.... ummm game started out on ps3 and pc so its hardly a port + its ture ps3 is holding back the game but i dont see the devs reworking the whole game engine cause of major costs and time so if the base engine is not changed it will not provide these super improvements many people seem to think but may add a few more capabilitys like fate sizes amounts of mobs and stuff but nothing to amazeing...

Fallout 4 got a graphics update patch this year, obviously FFXIV isn't going to get a FFXV graphics improvement but there is a lot of improvement to be made to the game when ps3 gets cancelled.

While I agree, in part, with your response. You can differentiate between a console player and a PC player by examining the character. Console players will have their exclusive console based gamertag listed.

nobody is really sure what will happen if the PS3 gets dropped (i don't want it to but its likely to happen by as early as 4.0) also 1.0 was very poorly optimized with common PCs struggling to run it.

don't start me on the V1, Yoshida already spend countless hours to explain how it did happend. multiple language of programation, bad choice for the graphical engine.... it was a mess, that not without reason they had to rebuild the game from the ground.

and i will not bet on the 4.0 on the ps3... Yoshida have often said it... he can only promise to bring the first expansion for the ps3 after this, he refuse to hold back the game for a machine that old.

ok this talk is just silly if you cancel the ancient ps3 then i say shut game down a year and redesign the whole game engine to maximize the actual maximun potential of ps4/pc.


Its already happend once btw for this game to work with ps3 and all.....
