I think there won't be less invisible walls in this game from the way it was built up.

You haven't tried hard enough. lol
Even tiny ledges can cause problems.

Can't watch, at work. If I have to try hard to find it, then it's clearly better than FFXIV where you run in to them constantly. is the tiny ledge problem where you are sprinting and can't climb a step? I hit that a lot, but not sure if I'd call that an invisible wall per se.

You have less invisible walls if you fly

As mentioned, GW2 is pretty open, and then there is also Archeage. With Archeage, you can pretty much climb/glide/explore anywhere you like. It was really quite a lot of fun just exploring and trying to see how you could get to the top of whatever random landmark you felt like. I'm sure there are plenty of others, my gaming experience if fairly limited.

Then we hop back over to XIV where even tiny little puddles have walls around them (I'm looking at you Western La Noscea).

To be fair, I think those are supposed to be fairly deep tidal pools and we don't have swimming so...

I played Guild Wars 2 before and I never had the feeling that I was restricted in any way, it wasn't even a thing I thought about really I just could jump everywhere and I loved it. There are of course some restrictions too, but not being able to jump up a 90 degree mountain doesn't seem that bad to me since I still have Skyrim for that.
I played WoW for a day or two and I was on top of a big tree and thought "Hey, I bet it's easier to just jump of"... and I did... and I died, but I liked that I was able to try it out, I even found bones from people who tried before me.

Even if it's right in the middle of the map? Like Idyllshire for example, those rock piles look like they exist. Or if you stand on the edge of the map in the Foundation and look down those structures look pretty real.
