We're pretty much Hydaelyn's Ascians (which also have the Echo).

Thing is, Ascians belive Zodiark to be the one true god. They think of Hydaelyn to be a fake, and the same can be said of all 12 Allagan made gods (which is a theory of mine, they are fakes created by Allagans to hide something far more darker that was before and allowed the birth of Primals in the first place) And im with Ascians in this (and not only cuz im a fanboy of Zodiark!) but i do belive Hydaelyn and the 12 are just fakes, Hydaelyn is but a "seal" for the real and only god Zodiark, while the 12 is just a overcomplicated mythos the Allagan came up with to explain events past their rise and hide darkish stuff, like the Warring Triad for example, or worse... Voidsents... Which are by now kinda "neutral" story wise... They are sidecontent for the most part and honestly, i don`t see a bigger threat for all of us than Voidsents.

What he means is that we act the same way for Hydaelyn as the Ascians do for Zodiark, putting Hydaelyn's safety at our highest priority at the cost of other things (for example, for Hydaelyn's safety, you unintentionally further spread chaos, as Lahabrea mentions). Possible immortality and all, we won't know unless we're actually killed if our crystals of light have an effect. Minfilia specifically angsts over this topic, actually.

I think most of us agree that he unlocked the power via Elidibus, since the Elder specially mentions him. It was Elidibus sending us a message, rather than actually empowering the Elder because he was useful. I'm of the belief that Elidibus wanted you to approach him to learn more about your gift.

No. The WoL is not a primal. Primals literally drain the land of aether simply by manifesting in a physical form. That's not something that would 1) escape the notice of or 2) be tolerated by the Scions. You know, the people that actively look out for and counter primal threats? I mean, think back to the storyline with Ramuh. I know I didn't really want to kill him. He's actually a pretty damn chill dude for a primal. He doesn't want to conquer the Twelveswood or murder the hell out of everyone that isn't a Sylph or anything. He just wants the Sylphs to be left alone in the forest in peace. Despite that, we had to go off him anyway because the very existence of a primal is a direct threat to Hydaelyn in the form of that aether draining effect.

Well, even that is extremely ambiguous, especially as Derplander and his friends have long been used as player stand-ins during trailers, dating waaay back to before even 1.0 was released (have a watch of the Dragonsong music video and you'll see what I mean).

We really don't know much about the Warriors of Darkness other than they do resemble evil clones of Derplander and his friends so until more is revealed about their true origins, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt.
