You're not supposed to require reward to do things, it's called playing games, you should try it sometime. :P

Honestly, it's all about efficiency and rewards vs time spent for so many players. Why can't people just play the game for the freaking hell of it to have fun, and see the rewards as bonuses that are acquired along the way?

I personally wouldn't sign up for the Chocobo Race anyway even if we could and LoV...HAHAHA. They both bore me to no end, maybe BlitzBall will hold my attention if its done right (assuming the rumors are true of it potentially coming) but if its done like FF10-2s, may pass on it as well.

Because people like progression or at least the ability to work towards something that they can get. I wanted the Fenrir mount, so I was willing to play the games to get it. Doing things for funsies will only go so far until people will grow bored and complain that there's nothing to do. FF14 isn't going to sell itself on doing things for funsies only.

Heck, Final Fantasy in general has mini games that reward you greatly if you manage to master them and it helps you out in the main game. FF7's Gold Saucer had a lot of neat items, including Cloud's Limit break, that were locked behind it. FF8 had Triple Triad that became the source of magic crafting. FF10 had Blitzball where you had to play it if you wanted to get Wakka's best weapon. Yes, people can and will play those mini games for fun, but not everyone is going to be sold on just fun alone. It's why we have so many carrot and sticks in this game and others.

I'm sure that is true for a lot of players, but I am also sure that there are a lot of people who sunk hundreds, if not thousands of hours into previous FF games because of the minigames. I spent countless hours messing around in Xenosaga with it's minigames. Just as there are players for whom everything is about measurable progression (sounds a bit like a treadmill....but that's my opinion only). There are also players who play for fun, to play around with glamours, run a few dungeons, or FATE, craft a bit, play some games at the Saucer, play around with looks with the Aesthetician, experience the story; they want to 'live' in Eorzea for a time to relax and escape the real world and it's stress and progression treadmill.

There is absolutely no reason for it to not be on the duty finder <_>

I know, but the issue I have with the mini games here is they lack depth. They are simple to a fault; Chocobo Racing only has 3 courses for a paltry amount of Chocobo EXP and MGP. Triple Triad is only for the sake of getting more cards and you can't do anything with the cards outside of the game. There has to be more to the games, rewards or not, to get me interested. The mini games in the previous titles had more going for them.

I already taken in the sights of the game's world, read the lores, leveled up a few classes, done whatever I found fun. I can only be immersed by the game's ins and outs so many times until I seen it all and it becomes a routine.

The mini games are fine where they are, they don't belong in duty finder.

As for rewards....i agree that they should reward something unique in the long run, similar to other FF games, but not something that affects gameplay, maybe a mount or glamour stuff. They're pretty fun to play regardless of that though, but unique rewards would be a nice inclusion and would attract more players.

They really should have a DF tab for MGS minigames.

That said, I personally find chocobo racing controls like shit, I'm not into RTS so Verminion has no appeal to me, and TT, with the way decks work, is a dull stale game.

Now, if they added a Pop-Up Duel queue, on the other hand...

    These mini-games aren't even fun.

Chocobo racing already was boring in VII. Bird running in straight line, can give commands to change lines and sometimes use a skill.. Of all racing type games this one is the most boring one ever..
Breeding part was kind of interesting in VII but what we got in XIV isn't even half of that..

    LoV
I don't get LoV at all. It barely playable with a controller so I haven't even bothered to do all the introductory battles.

    Triple Triad.
The base game is there and it's good but in VIII you could also turn your cards into cool useful items and potions. Potions in XIV exist only to clutter your inventory so adding an ability to desynth cards wouldn't help.

Half the problem is that Lord of Vermilion hasn't even been released outside Japan....

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
    Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
