This is the reason why I tend to have Protect (and sometimes Stoneskin) as the first crossclass skills/spells on my classes ^^; Since most non-CNJ/WHM healers tend to crossclass Cleric Stance (as people have said) first, it means I can throw up a Protect, even when it's not really needed for that level dungeon ^^; But hey, why not?
(Also to annoy my WHM friends when I queue with them, because I have Stoneskin and they don't xD)

My PLD first cross class is Protect.
Mostly because I don't have MRD unlocked so I really don't have many options for CC.

I got two levels out of it, too! I'm really feeling that, though. I got pgl to lv15 maybe 7 or 8 months ago to unlock brd. I thought I'd try something new today, I'm just sitting around waiting for the patch, so I dusted it off... and now I'm going to go back to ignoring it.

I'm also one of those with cleric stance as their first crossclass skill on sch/ast, since the buff from protect is negligible in sastasha and tam-tara. Luckily I didn't run into any tanks who complained about it when I was leveling.

I can forgive that sch for strictly healing, though. Personally I didn't learn stance dancing was even a thing until lv50 (and this person wasn't, judging from their gear). But I'm still scratching my head over why swiftcast would be in the first slot...

I guess Nov 2014? I don't actually remember. Got my lvl 15 went "great sweet now I can be a brd" and pretty much never looked at it again
Swiftcast to you know, summon Eos quickly! Or get that cure out fast! I don't know. I also took a while to learn to stance dance...but until then my first CC was Protect (it's also CS now)...

When you're a healer just trying to get the Vault done quickly for daily roulette and you get DPS with non-augmented Ironworks gear and an ilevel 115 weapon.

Had an Arboretum run with a Warrior that was somehow not holding aggro. This was a guy in full eso too. The two DPS with me were like 'pls'.

A couple times I would run back and fluid aura a mob attacking the bard. It's pretty hilarious.

Fractal: As a WAR, seems to be a lot of runs these days where people don't go after the beakers when the minotaur starts channeling his swing, killing the group and leaving me alive. While anyone can do it, I'm generally used to the healer popping it, but now I just do it when it becomes apparent no one is going to open up one. ~_~

Qarn normal: A tank that pulls everything with me as a BLM and a DRG for DPS. Half alright for AoE DPS, expecting the tank to hold aggro, but it turned into a game of me kiting mobs until I decided to go single target for safety. Not that it mattered since the tank died half of the time.

Dusk Vigil: On my MNK, we managed to go through two tanks before getting a good one. The first was a WAR that, judging by their actions, didn't know what to do. The tomahawked and pulled, and kind of stood there auto attacking with no stance, and by the time we realized it, everyone was tanking except the tank. The then suddenly decide to pop on Deliverance, and maybe use maim and storm's path before just running around for some reason. Advice was given, none was taken, and not a reply to be had.

WAR was swiftly removed to be replaced with a DRK, who was new, but good. It was great until the hallway of frozen soldiers where they DC'd and we died again. They never came back, so we got another DRK, which was great! Right up until they started having connection issues and I started tanking the Griffin, and died, but it wasn't their fault at least.

Had a hilarious Castrum Meridanum run.

- One of the tanks was typing vaugely incoherently, claiming he was drunk. You understood enough to think you know what he's talking about (something about having been to the store and buying bourbon), but not really (something about Skype and Vader being sexy).
- "I picture you just smashing your head on the keyboard and words forming." "That's how I do research paper."
- We had two newbies. One was a Ninja. He kept throwing goad on me (as a WHM) because he kept seeing my TP bar go down (due to Sprint). Very cute.
- Someone was named Cat Rocket. I mentioned how I've been seeing a lot of cat names recently, namely a Drowned Cat in an earlier roulette today. Cue instant barrage of cat jokes from everyone else. And comments about how we should sic Cat Rocket at Livia, because Cats + Rockets > Missiles.
- "Garleans be like 'we're getting raided by a bunch of drunk people. AND LOSING.'"

Despite all that, it was probably the best run I ever had. Except for the part where everyone was having too much fun to the point where we forgot BOTH keys. Which is probably still a plus anyway.

Arboretum with a BLM friend, me as AST, we got paired with a monk and a dark knight. The tank cast an Unmend on the morbol of the first pack, ran through the second pack and to the third pack, never using a single Unleash. After he ran through the second pack, the BLM applied Eye for an Eye on the tank, causing all the mobs but the morbol to run to him. I healed him with Essential Dignity which made the mobs of the third pack run to me, meanwhile the morbol cast an aoe which the tank didn't dodge. The moment I wanted to activate Lightspeed for some quick heals I died, then the BLM and everyone else died. Fastest wipe on trash I've ever seen.

We release, then the tank says, "I'll do smaller pulls". ...well, I may not be the best healer around, but I know how to heal through big pulls, including the "let's kill everything possible" pull at the beginning of the Arboretum and a small handfull of pulls of an absurd size when I thought "God no I can't do this we're gonna wipe oh the mobs are dead and we're still alive whee". So the BLM and I told the tank that healing wasn't the issue, and that he should actually tank everything by hitting mobs with Unleash. "No, I did everything perfectly, the healer is an idiot, healing the BLM instead of me, *more insults*", then he ragequit. lol.

My BLM friend left too and then came back on warrior although he never tanked Arboretum before, his DPS slot was filled with another BLM. Then we had a smooth and funny run with small pulls because "I have no idea what I'm doing here haha"

I've only played till lvl 20 on 2 chars so far, But I'm quite surprised at duty finder in dungeons and guildhests! One time this girl told me all about dragoons and why I had to stick with the game, cause it got better later on, suffice to say i already had great time. Even the fact people talk in dungeons, or say hi in guildhests makes it more fun
Except for 1 tank who had trouble adjusting to the advice of someone who had a lvl 60 tank, in Tam-Tara, it was all nice.
