Hopfully SE have done something a little more interesting then just having us fight him, and kill him every week...
Maybe were fighting him to Prove were strong enough? (think FFVIII? Sorry on the JD already and cba to google)
Would fit more with the Beast tribes Vs Imperials and us in the middle.
The Level 30 fight is an Easy-Mode where you Parley with Ifrit and play a card game.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Eh true, but he wasn't constantly visually active, you only saw him for a little bit:
Here there be fire
I agree with Richardd, it may seem like there's a lot of damage flying out but the overall complexity of the fight looks low-mid range at best.
Also if you reread this, it seems Konata's furthest was Normal Mode 9/11 ICC, failing to beat the first boss that required any strategy (as far as normal modes go) in ICC.
Heroic modes were more than just "stay out of the fire", and if one person died during progression you usually were on the edge of losing. However Heroics in ICC were mostly just DPS checks (along with 1 or 2 new "tactics" per boss)... as such this made Saurfang, Deathwhisper, Putricide, and Blood Queen trivialized on heroic mode as the buff went up. Sindragosa heroic mode at 0% was easier than Putricide for example, but at 15% Putricide was a heck of a lot easier just because the 15% eliminated its DPS check while Sindragosa still required cohesive raid movement.
1 mistake and you die is nearly every WoW heroic in BC and WOTLK also. (I stopped playing before Cata to play 14) This is coming from someone who has done Grand Immortal 25H Colleseum, Immortal Algalon (world 3rd), HLK @ 10% (we nearly beat it at 5%... we nearly beat 10m H at 0% as well, but had to take the 5% buff the following week)Before Cata my guild could do each Wotlk heroic dungeon in 10 minutes per dungeon, sometimes less, we were farming Icecrown Citadel every week up to Sindragosa untill we finally got fed up of doing the same boring terrible tactics again and again and again.
That Ifrit fights looks very much like '1 mistake, and you die'.
I don't really like WoW that much but saying its fights weren't difficult is quite the understatement.
Actually my furthest was 11/11 Heroic 25 man, I was the warrior tank, it just wasn't a guild raidI agree with Richardd, it may seem like there's a lot of damage flying out but the overall complexity of the fight looks low-mid range at best.

Saurfang was such a dissapointing boss
And loot-ship was so much more fun if you played the Pirates Of The Carribean theme on loop during it!
Just made that "by me own beard..." moment so much more thrilling XD
As for '1 mistake and you die' being in the heroics, wrong, my warlock soloed the last boss in Utgarde just by leaving dots on him and running left and right behind a pillar, his pathing him kept the pillar between me and him and I kept the dots on. Everyone else just stood around going "eh?". My priest tanked a fair few heroic dungeon bosses in Wotlk, and even one in cata, which everyone thought was totally nuts XD
You're talking to someone who played Commodore 64 games as a kid, I spent years playing truly difficult and hard games, and honestly there hasn't been a real one in a good many years. Saying a WoW boss was difficult and had tactics to someone who's played Turrican and Freddy Hardest is like trying to tell a wine critic that tesco brand wine is good.![]()
So wasting their time with pretty cutscenes and even a story related quest (eventually)? Just so they can just delete the Teleport Option in the menu and at the atherytes? =X
Nah if some options or functions are getting obsolete, they just won't be accessable anymore. Introducing new functions (such as chocobos/airships) with cutscenes makes sense, but deleting them? xD
But it would be cool to see if we have to defend or get those atherytes back via some sort of open-world battle system. Just like campaign or besieged (to some extend).
But we'll have to see. Although I don't think I'll be playing until 1.20 or 1.21. I want the overhauled jobs with new animations and shit so badly. The game has such nice graphics but when I use some skills on my archer it's just looking completly dull.
I just hope I won't be forced to play barcher in the future =x
Seriously Why?
I stopped giving you any credit when a) you compared anything to a 5 man dungeon b) you compared hard SINGLE PLAYER GAMES to coordination between 4/8/10/25/40 people in an mmo all at the same time. Yeah I'm gonna try and Plat Dark Souls on PS3 but I wouldn't compare it to mmo raiding difficulty.
