Unukalhai: Primals and Eikons

So by the time we hit 3.5 he's not tiny-Eli anymore, but a full Elidibus for us to be all to be completely shocked and horrified about.

See, I was toying with the idea that Unukalhai might not be related to Elidibus, but rather Lahabrea... Somehow he survived Thordan, but it left him "damaged", hence the childlike form and shift in personality.

One thing I find odd is that Unukalhai sends us to take out Ravana again, while presumably Elidibus sent the Warriors of Darkness to do the exact same thing... Why? Elidibus has Derplander to deal with Primals for him, why have us do the same thing through Unukalhai?

Well, Unukalhai DOES specifically mentions he doesn't believe the Heavensward Extremes are brought about by Asican involvement.

You know me, I can get behind this idea on the premise alone. I'll file it under "might be fun."

However, the evidence does point to him being related to Elidibus, via Urianger defending him and Unukalhai being a real life star of the same constellation. . . .Except that Lahabrea is like Elidibus and "of this world." They seem to have some basal connection the others don't, so who knows.

I'm fond of the idea that their names [Lahabrea/Nabriales/Elidibus/etc] are more formal titles rather than actually their birth names. Disregarding the many, many theories on how they were 'born,' changed, or otherwise came into being, of course.

Minor correction: He doesn't believe it was brought about by "those" ascians. I have no idea whatever that means, but I have a feeling it might be a good thing to keep in mind.

Unrelated to anything, but for maximum creepiness I'm hoping totally-not-Elidibus-or-Elidibus'-servant ages himself up a bit after every patch by a few years.

idk but to me he looks the same now as he did in the very first cutscene. though my char is quite tall, which might be the reason he doesn't look different

I'm incline not to read too much into that... Lahabrea and Igeyorhm likely got the Vanu Vanu to summon Bismarck, in order to keep the Key to Azys Lla safe from the Garleans (who recently moved into the area, I imagine Lahabrea got Thordan to set up in the Sea of Clouds specifically to make a grab for the Key when the time was right, but Garlemald got in the way, so throw a Primal at them). As such, Bismarck was originally summoned with involvement of the Ascians. Lahabrea and Igeyorhm never made it back from Azys Lla though, so there was no one keeping tabs on the Vanu Vanu, and they just summoned Bismarck (Extreme) themselves (likewise, I imagine Ramuh (both versions, I think they originally taught the Sylphs to repel Garlemald and perhaps isolate Gaius) had no Ascian involvement, Shiva (Extreme) and both times we see her during Heavensward as well). As such, Bismark (Extreme) was not the work of the Ascians, it was just the Vanu Vanu being independent.

This is likely part of what Elidibus meant when he said it falls to him to clean up the mess. With Lahabrea and Igeyorhm gone, it's fallen to him to control the tribes, right now they're just doing whatever they want with the power Lahabrea and Igeyorhm gave them. Granted, that's probably a point towards Elidibus and Unukalhai being BBFs, I probably need to start ignoring the Extreme stories, they're not well written... They're there for gameplay purposes, lore seems to be more of an afterthought with them...

I took that more as Ascians in general, rather than meaning specific Ascians... Obviously Bismarck and Ravana (Extreme) are not going to be the work of those Ascians, if those Ascians are Lahabrea and Igeyorhm (the two we encountered in the region), because as far as we know, they're dead.

No, I wasn't saying he was changing, I said I'd like him to. It would make him creepy in the best way possible.

I'm also with Nalien, I assume than "those" was referring to Lahayorhm. I mean, I could go into one of those big "Ascians aren't a hivemind, people!" posts again that I'm sure everyone is sick of from me, but I don't really think it has anything to do with the Ascians being split into distinct groups based upon preferred methods this time.

Right, so the new armor set for Tomestones of Lore is apparently called Eikonic gear, and it's based off the original 6 Primals (Ifrit to Shiva). Granted, Eorzeans aren't the best when it comes to this sort of stuff...

You know, that makes me a bit more concerned about Rowena... She seems to have adopted the Garlean mannerism of calling Primals Eikons, if she's now stocking Eikonic Hellfire/etc. gear... Making Hailstorm Attire of Casting is fairly morbid, too...
