Devs, could all of us please get these outfits that the China region is getting?

So let me get this straight the art model designers arn't the same SE team that works on FFXIV?

then why do we seem to only have two known regionals that can add custom stuff? like another company haveing rights to edit this game sounds odd why the heck can't more editing companys and modeling design companys get involved?

Shanda Games is the company running Final Fantasy XIV in China and Eyedentity Mobile is in South Korea. It's not (primarily) about editing or modeling design, though they do have access to that. They're the ones actually publishing the game, running its servers, selling access to those servers, etc.

They do so in partnership with Square Enix, since SE is the one who developed the game, but the version that Shanda Games sells is modified (by SG) for the Chinese market, and the one Eyedentity Mobile sells is modified (by EM) for the Korean market. This includes translating the game into their respective languages (much as SE does themselves for English, French, and German versions), modifying aspects of the game unsuited to their market (like removal of skeleton mobs from the Chinese version of the game), and occasionally adding an extra item or two of their own (such as the dress that started this thread).

We bought our version and have our accounts with Square Enix, because we're playing on SE's servers. SE has servers in Japan, North America, and Europe, so an SE account is good for any of those regions. We'd need an account with Shanda Games to play on the Chinese servers, or with Eyedentity Mobile to play on the Korean servers (as well as needing their respective versions of the software), but I don't think either of those two companies is selling their software or accounts outside of their own country.

Although these outfits do have cultural motifs, what we get isn't really about where we're at. It's about what game we bought and from whom. We have access to Square Enix's FFXIV. That Chinese dress is part of Shanda Games' FFXIV.

Ugh, Korea has cool outfits too! And a different colored blue-bird that looks cool.
C'mon Square We want some of these amazing looking outfits too. They could be color-swaps or somewhat redesigns too...

I have no problem with the Chinese and Koreans having unique cultural items. Just give me a Red, White and Blue Magitek mount on the 4th of July that shoots bald eagles. The event can have Godbert Manderville dressed as Uncle Sam.

SE licenses the game out to another company to run in China they can put in their own items in the game that is pretty much it.

You do know that Chinese servers don't get skeleton monsters (unsure about undead mobs overall) or even Gold Saucer, right? How can they treat players equally when they have to abide by the laws of a country?

Not entirely sure what Korean servers are missing, if anything was taken out at all.

They do get Gold Saucer, so does AU (which also does not allow video game gambling) which is why Gold Saucer is an amusement park, not a casino.

It has been said and beaten to death: other companies licensed to bring FF14 to their country and along with that the rights to make their own content. We get what SE gives us, and they get what SE gives them, but they ALSO get what Shanda Games gives them, because Shanda is the company running FF14 in China to make sure the game abides by censorship laws so SE's hands are clean from most responsibility if something should have been censored.
