Ah, FFIV (or II, as it was called on the SNES) was my first FF game. Seeing Calcobrina in an HD environment would put a great big smile on my face. Here's to hoping they remix the creepy dolls theme to go along with the fight.

Seriously it was originally mis-translated or deliberately shortened for character restrictions. Calcabrina is the true intent of the name.

In fact, this points to it being the boss all the more, because in the Live Letter they mentioned that the name had to be retconned a-la Chupon/Typhon because of a translation issue from the original. Calbrena to Calcabrina definitely qualifies as that.

For the people who were watching the source of the hottest of hot scoops, Duty Commenced, they might have noticed something in the dungeon preview section. Here it is again.

Those of you familure with FFIV should be able to tell what these 6 (1 slightly off screen) are. Although it could be wrong, these are most likely Calca and Brina dolls.

Everyone who has seen the Dungeon preview of the Dungeon on the lodestone or the press release for the dungeon should know that Mammet's are featured in the dungeon as well, so it does fit the theme of the dungeon to have these dolls appear as a boss.

Now the special thing about these dolls is that they are able to merge together to form the monster doll Calcabrina. Here is an amazing artwork by Yoshitaka Amano from when FFIV was released.

Another special thing is the theme song of the boss. If this boss is indeed in The Antitower, I really hope Soken managed to do a version of the theme for the boss.

I frequently watch a streamer who speedruns FF II/IV, I linked to chat from the appearance of the dolls. First remark was one of abject horror "What are those terrifying things?!"

Yes! Really looking forward to the fight! Dungeon BGM didn't change for the boss fight so we might not get a Dancing Calcabrina theme and instead just the normal Heavensward dungeon boss theme and just the new song for the dungeon that was shown.
