Shame for the delay, but that video just helps build up even more hype for the release <3
I think the fight looks cool, but from what we saw in the video I wouldn't necessarily say it is hard or will definitely be a good encounter. I mean WoW has environmental obstacles too and I wouldn't call their raid encounters hard or interesting.

I'm hoping that incapacitation plays a role in the Ifrit fight either needed to disable a powerful attack Ifrit has, or to get a better chance at a certain drop (moving drops to a treasure chest in Darkhold was a cheap move to avoid making incapacitation worth it).

Without Battle Regimens I'm hoping there is much more to these encounters requiring a group effort, or at least that what obstacles they do contain aren't as easily bypassed as Ogre and Batraal's or the lifespan of interest in these fights may not last as long.

WoW has no enviromental obstacles... hasn't had anything like that since vanilla WoW...

And seriously... Ifrit 1-shots 3 people at once in that video, and you don't think it'll be hard???

the fight looks okay i guess.

but i think alot of people are forgetting about the little changes coming in this patch which will affect the outcome of the ifrit battle alot. dont forget that materia and all that will also make a impact.

also, i have several R50's so its not like i cant partake in this, i will, but im more intrested in going out and finding the changes in the patch that arent included in the patch notes as lets face it, SE never lists them all lol

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

I thought that was all WoW endgame was about was environmental obstacles like lava, acid, and little tanks/objects you had to activate etc. Anyways most of those boil down to don't stand in X spot, and kill this thing>then this thing>then the boss.

Batraal and Ogre can both easily one shot 3 people at once. So that alone doesn't make it hard, other things in the fight look pretty good as I commented on in the other thread but we won't know until we get it. I don't think though that it looks "hard as nails". I think it looks better than most MMO encounters, but I'm hoping there is more to the fight than we see in that video (or more to what we do see).

I'm incredibly hyped about it either way. I'm just not going to get my hopes up for this end-all encounter when I know the combat system isn't even fully balanced yet. I'd also like to see incaps be added because it give alternate goals to fight for during the battle once we have figured out:

how to kill him... and how to kill him fast.

Now if we could incap for increased chances at different drops imagine how much that would add to a fight like this where positioning appears to be so important. Try beating this guy with no deaths, with good damage, and hitting all 4 drop incaps (from every side). Now that would make this fight more interesting.

Muahahaha, I knew there was a reason EU got games after US, and this is it, I can play 1.19 when its live, then on the 7th I can play dark souls.

EU gets games after US because it has to be converted from NTSC T.V format to PAL T.V format, NTSC comes out in black and white on european T.Vs.

PC games are the exception of course, since they're universal.

/sigh sarcasm fail. Also modern TVs support NTSC, the problem with that was that NTSC used 60Hz and PAL used 50Hz, however with HDMI this is no longer the case .

You do know for games the PS3 atleast is not region locked, I have a US version of demons souls (beware dodgy games shops) and it plays in full colour and no problems. The problems you are talking about havent been around in TVs made within the last 6ish yrs.

Whilst this is true many consoles are still locked in a US > EU format. You can't play US games on a EU Xbox360, I'm surprised PS3 lets you without installing a chip or modifying it in some way. Plus I can put NTSC games into my EU playstation and it'll still be black and white even though I'm using a widescreen 1080p T.V that can do over 100mhz, so I think there's still a little PAL modifying in it somewhere.

Also most games nowadays are released at the same time in both US and EU, doesn't make much sense that Dark souls isn't.
