Botting is getting worse.

Bots are getting worse by the day. Just the other day I saw several bots in central thanalan all hunting efts all thaurtmages casting the same spell and then jumping to a new loacation and then jumping back and repeat.

It's always been like that though. It happens immediately after each wave of accounts is banned, as the botters try to get their new accounts back up to level with their old ones. I think they farm those mobs in central thanalan from underground, until they can queue for dungeons where they do the same thing away from human eyes. Eventually they get to the point they can queue up for amdapor keep normal, where they spam the first hallway repeatedly, as the above icongraph suggests. (Hippogryph skin and bone chips are the only items that drop in that stretch up to the first boss).

No clue what they do after that, but you know SE doesn't care when they publicly release a census that gives more of a window into the lives of bots than it does into the lives of human players.

Edit: you want to see something funny? (I mean "funny" as in, "this clown tastes funny".) Go to Western Thanalan immediately after a major wave of RMT bans. You'll see the walls where level 5 mining nodes are flashing with the light of a thousand pick axes striking paydirt. Those are RMT mining bots, busily leveling their new accounts from inside the rock wall where human players can't see their names to report them. The only indication that they are there are the brilliant flashes of light and "tink tink" sounds of their pickaxes.

There needs to be a quicker way to report someone on both pc and console

like a right click on name, select report, and basic information would be already filled out and attached a screenshot. something like that.

You run past them, you see the RMT bots teleporting around constantly killing things under the map. How much worse could it get really? The actions taken by SE in regards to botting and RMT spamming are nothing short of laughable, and seriously staining the reputation of this game.

Well, you see... their funding is finite, and clearly they feel it would be better used on creating new minions, mounts and such to put in the cash shop than in fighting off a glaring problem that's right in front of their, and everyone else's eyes.


Despite the claims to the contrary here, SE do *not* seriously care about the RMT in this game. They don't. Demonstrably. Token bannings are not evidence that they give a crap. It's called "appeasing the masses" - so long as they put up the appearance that they're "doing something about it", people won't complain as much.

But after a while now, when it's only getting worse, instead of getting better, and botters/RMT are doing their thing right out in the open for all to see... not even trying to be discreet about it... well that says it all. SE does not truly care about RMT in FFXIV. They do not truly care about botting.

When I can go into other popular MMOs, and get not a single RMT spam in the course of months of playing it, never mind not seeing bots anywhere... much less everywhere... no one's going to tell me "SE can't do it". They can. They just aren't, because they don't consider it important enough to deal with, apparently.

If you want to see what a MMO looks like when its developers actually care about dealing with RMT, and don't just claim they do, go spend some time in ESO. Then come back, look at the situation in XIV, and tell me with a straight face that SE cares about, and is doing everything they can to deal with RMT.

They aren't.

And why wouldn't they care enough to? Well, the reasons can be various, but one you can count on is considering that every time a RMT company needs to create new accounts, that's more $$$ in SE's wallet. It's easy, continuous income for them. Why would they do away with that? To please their loyal *players*? Ha! That's funny. Naïve, but funny.

I'm fairly new here and i immediately noticed the bot problem, freshly logged in and i get a pink text thinking, "what is this?", took me a while but then i noticed this is someone selling gold, right clicked to find a report button or something....it isn't there, what? Few other tells pop up sometimes, all i can do is block, it's not intuitive to report. Coming from other games, this is the only flaw i've seen so far.

Yes I know about those, I meant the old area's how they had low levels and had stacks of 9999, that they should report them if they get to the new areas.

Because then it would be much worse.

Which would break the AH, so far I haven't seen any bots in heavensward except that one I mentioned though I don't travel around that often to see them.

Just curious, but why can't SE fix the teleportation bug that allows them to travel in/under the map in the first place?
