Shikaree that link dont work for me.

Also why do people keep saying this was "intended" to be something? It was just built for that specific tech demo and not for anything at all. But i wish they kept this sort of "feel" and "design" when coming to make XIV. Even keeping that city people would have prefered than any of the current. It wouldnt fit Limsa's current status/story but it would of been a whole lot better than it.

Leave it to rpgamer to occasionally break their older links like that. I changed it to one on rpgfan, see if that works.

This was what I was hoping to see for town environments. Even after getting into Alpha testing and then to Beta and looking at how Limsa felt, I was hoping that only because of the testing phases did the towns feel empty inside.

Everything just feels so bland, like walking into a bare room with furniture slapped in it. Ul'dah is the closest so far with any kind of feel to it but it's still lacking.
Ya i agree, all of the cities in the game feel pretty empty. They don't give you the feeling that anyone lives there, its just really lifeless.

there should be gambling halls, arenas, auction houses etc in the cities. Let's also forget that the game itself is pretty lifeless because a lot of people quit. If more people played it wouldn't feel so lifeless.

    Holy flippin' jesus.

Maybe they can use it in an expansion pack... or something. To not use it would be downright ludicrous.

I, for one, would love to see a city like that in XIV. I was actually quite disappointed when none of the three city-states turned out to look like this. It's really unfortunate too because the concept art for areas like this lend a real sense of energy to the world it depicts.

It's too bad the towns aren't more like the opening to Limsa, when it pans over the city and you see people running from place to place and going about their own business. I would love to see a city like that. I'm not sure technically how feasible that is but in comparison the cities do feel pretty lifeless. I've never been a fan of people just standing around waiting for someone to come talk to them. Even if it was a bit of an inconvenience I'd rather see NPCs move from place to place. Perhaps when it gets dark they're not available because they've gone home. Something along those lines.

I realize realistically this probably isn't feasible but I can dream...

Actually yeah, that would be a nice touch of realism. Though unneccesary in Ul'dah because that place is always full of PCs anyway.

EDIT: speaking of realism... there hardly ever tends to be a proper amount of houses in most RPGs. You're left wondering if these people are all homeless. Even painting an urban area into a 2D background would fix this, but most games just flat out ignore it.
