Tbh people seem equally or moreso crazed with Samurai, which i would just rather have dancer ...
Many of the classic FF classes are believed to make their way to the game if i recall just never any timeline given
Though, there's a lot of craze over Dancer and people who want it in the game, especially when they gave the Thavnairian outfits and the dance.
Mystic Knight is sword mage. Red Mage is a swordsman that could cast black and white magic, but not really use sword magic.

I would doubt that SE is about to break the trinity system in 4.0 (atm SE don't have the resources to do something this radical maybe 5.0) , so i would curb any ideas of this happening
This is what i am fearful of, even worse if SE shoehorns it into a healer/support role to fit it into the trinity system.

Doesn't break the Trinity system in the slightest. You queue, once you start, you are allocated one of: tank stance (eg fencing parries), dps stance (eg en-spelled swords) or healing stance (eg cures and debuffs). You might need a macro'd gearswap.
This system could be used for other classes like Beastmaster (different pets dependent on the role) and Puppetmaster (different Mammet frames) etc. Of course it means that these jobs would insta-queue, but perhaps as the game gets older, that becomes a desirable function for new jobs.

this would require some MAJOR changes to the queue and job systems, for the expert duty roulette you would be in the queue 6 times instead of 2 and stance switching skills would be disabled while on the DF serverDoesn't break the Trinity system in the slightest. That would be an awful way to code it and pointless too. Better to drop you in the first available party filling in whatever gap is needed (so usually, but not always tank or healer), or choose the stance when you hit queue (in which case you'd know if you were going to be a dps because the wait would be greater than 10secs). Thinking about it, letting the player choose the stance when they queue sounds like the best way (tank/heal/dps/random).
Yes stance switching skills would be disabled in the instance, in the same way PvP skills are disabled outside PvP instances, so presumably precedent for that is already there.

nice idea but you know that SE is only going to shoehorn the RDM role into one of the three roles to save on skills and to make it fit the trinity system. I'm hopping for DPS but expecting healer for RDMThat would be an awful way to code it and pointless too.
