Oooo you got burned by a GM, ouch XD

I haven't met one yet on my server, though that's probably for the best

I'd like to make a particular request to Yoshida-san, maybe atypical next to the others, but I care about this. This evening I went only a few minutes in Eorzea to write this, so if the community reps here would be so kind to forward it, thank you.

In the last weeks, ever since I heard of their appearance, I've been trying to meet these characters:

    - Kipih Jakkya

    - Petyr Winsome

    - Dural Tharal

The 3 new Game Masters-controlled characters that recently began to appear in Ul'dah. But this quest is proving extremely hard for the time I spend in Eorzea, that is not much, and in two weeks I couldn't even see their shadow. And if I can't meet one, I wonder what are the odds of meeting three...

The first time Legatus Nael van Darnus appeared I was... “busy” behind the brushes near Camp Horizon (toilet)... and when I returned, there were only his and his Tribuni dialogues, meaning no adventurer had spotted them or was interested in their appearance.
Previously I also had met with Urianger and he was speaking a different language.

As I'm very interested in Eorzea's storyline and in the recent happenings regarding the approaching Seventh Umbral Era, covering it all in my journal, I'd wish there would be a way to know when these special characters might appear... and not only in Ul'dah, for The Twelve's sake!

It's not that I don't like the desert town, but I like more Gridania and of course my home of Limsa Lominsa. Many adventurers built their settlements in Ul'dah and seem to have forgotten about their true city-state, but I certainly haven't.

A few days ago I was there in Limsa with a Miqo'te linkshell mate, Zhadis, gazing at the night sky until dawn, and that would have been a perfect time for one of those characters to appear. Yes, what I'm saying is it would be Great if they could somehow sense there're good-spirited adventurers nearby! [This means adventurers who actually care about them.]

What's a True Adventurer like? Well, I, for one, like to enjoy even the small things in Eorzea and not just getting “el super equip”, be it watching sunsets and dawns, or waving my hand to unknown travellers passing by in fields or, of course, being this much interested in Eorzea. It's hard to explain in a few lines... Anyway, you feel it if you are a real adventurer, and if you're interested in the lore, and thus in meeting these characters, chances are you are one.

On my World, Bodhum, where unfortunately I know very few adventurers of my language as interested as me in the story, I read on a couple of blogs that Dural Tharal appeared a few days ago, not saying much in his speech... but, even if I was glad two other fellow adventurers had the chance to meet him, that was morning time in my EU Time Zone...!
And anyway, even if he appeared in the afternoon or evening, I can't possibly stay (clueless) all the time near those stairs in Ul'dah (the ones on the left leading to the Gate of Nald, I set up camp there...), as I like to craft in other places and also do gathering and other things; in the last two weeks I've been there (and also by the stairs just outside The Quicksand) way too much in the limited time I spend in Eorzea, so, since in my opinion two weeks with no result is a lot of time, I decided to make this request here, also for all the other True Adventurers of Eorzea out there who are in Ul'dah trying to chat with them, really interested in this kind of stuff: if you're here, let 'em hear you voice as well!

If patch 1.19 comes out by September 22nd like many suspect, I'm afraid these will be the final days to meet those characters.
Let's admit it, these events are really Great and chatting with these characters is, in my opinion, one of the most entertaining and distracting things to do in Eorzea, so it's a shame there's no way to have at least a little hint on their next appearance, to full enjoy the story.

I was particularly interested to talk with Kipih Jakkya, so when I'm in Ul'dah I'll continue to craft near those stairs... although it's just a matter of luck if she and the other two fellows might appear at the same moment I'm there (and speaking my language), and I would like my two weeks of efforts to meet them to be rewarded. So...

    Direct Request!

    Dear Kipih-chan,

as you're a reporter of The Raven perhaps you'll read me here: I'm searching for you. A Great Reporter like you and a Great Adventurer like me surely will have a lot to talk, about Dalamud, the recently revealed new intelligence on Baelsar and Darnus, and more... I'll keep on waiting for you for many moons, in late afternoon/early evening (*cough*GMT+2*cough*), also in my hometown of Limsa Lominsa, just outside the Drowning Wench, where I sometimes go to breath some fresh air and stare at the night sky.
A good psych up in my Full Subligar Outfit – which I do at least once a day – hopefully will summon you to me!

    Sincerely,

Cloudio Onizuka, True Adventurer of Eorzea
the reason you dont see Kipih, is because he spawns in Uldah ^^ normally around where the event tent are atm.

GMs (Game Masters) randomly popping in Ul'dah to roleplay 3 characters.
It's random and not an event, just a random extra thing, kinda like when Alfgar used to pop and talk about stuff (before he would pop for the imperial attacks, when he used to appear, talk and that was it)

I know which occurance Esther is talking about, too.

I got to partake in a bit of role-play, along with other fellow Eorzeans, with Dural Tharal on the Trabia server. It was really fun having conversation about the events in-game with an official member of SE. Hah, I even had several LS mates making fun of my responses as they were appropriately geared towards the conversation happening at that moment. >_< But it was fun!

Hope I stumble across another one soon! ^_^

    Game Master characters still appearing?

    Hello again.

After patch 1.19, I read that the Game Master characters started to appear in other city-states besides Ul'dah, so I was glad the devs heard the feedback.

However, I still haven't got my chance to meet Dural, Petyr or Kipih-chan.
Yesterday and today I tried again in Gridania, crafting near the Carline Canopy. That is, I get the Carpenter and Alchemist's local leves, go to Maisenta to obtain the materials and then return to the Adventurers' Guild to synthesize (the same “go back and forth” procedure applies with Leveridge in Limsa Lominsa).
Today I stayed there a total of 3 hours doing this and when I made a pause to stretch a bit, as Cloudio I was still there in the Canopy. This I've been doing since the end of August. Ahh, those stairs in Ul'dah...!

Well, yesterday I caught a glimpse of a certain wizard...

...but couldn't ask him to make the GM characters magically appear, as he vanished soon after (should have I expected it...?).

Today another VIP appeared, directly from the Hokuto Shinken Guild...

...Indeed, many characters shows up... but no sign of Kipih-chan.

I'll make a pause for a while. In Eorzea I like to vary and therefore also not always staying in the same place when I craft, that's why I still believe that if these reporters could “feel” when a True Adventurer is nearby, they should appear (or at least give us a clue on their next appearance).

How about you adventurers out there? Are you still meeting these 3 characters? I asked other adventurers on my World if they saw them, but recently they haven't either.
Well, sooner or later my full-powered Subligar will lure them to me!

    The randomness

After 3 months (end of August) of setting up camps in the city-states, today, at 19.20 Earth Time (I'm GMT+1), I've finally encountered Petyr Winsome walking in Ul'dah... through Emerald Avenue (the street leading to the Thaumaturges' Guild).

But he was speaking an unknown language...!

I followed him all the way to the Aetheryte Crystal, equipping my full-powered subligar hoping he would magically start speaking my language, but...

Again, I'd like the dev team to revise these characters' appearance:

    1. The randomness, having no clue on when they might appear. And also, Where! Now I know that all the time I spent looking for them in the places where I though they would appear was wasted, as Petyr was walking through Emerald Avenue. Also, I saw photos of Dural by The Quicksand.

    2. I though these characters had started to appear in other city-states as well, but it seems like Ul'dah is still the favored. Recently, Kipih-chan also appeared there, as reported in this journal. Why?

    3. Really, why the randomness? I saw a French-speaking Petyr walking alone through Emerald Avenue, with only me and two japanese adventurers. I don't understand the point in this. Why make these characters appear like this, with us adventurers being clueless on their next appearance, position and language spoke?

Has any of you adventurers found any sort of “pattern” in their appearance? If (possibly) yesterday Kipih appeared in Ul'dah speaking Japanese, today Petyr appeared in the desert town speaking Fench, maybe tomorrow someone else will appear? I'll try to check around the same time (maybe a German or English Dural will appear?), but I've yet to understand how could I know the position where they might appear (and if they'll still appear in Ul'dah or not)... Oh well.

Edited convo. we just had, on Rabanastre:

Petyr Winsome: How about you there Adiyah Tulika... now I am sure you have a tale or two to share.
Adiyah Tulika: Me? What kind of tale would you like to hear?
Petyr Winsome: Oh anything really, anything at all.
Adiyah Tulika: Well, I've heard rumors lately about some snow-dwelling giants
Devils Advocate: Tell us of snow dwelling giants, please! please! Please!
Adiyah Tulika: they're twice as high as a Hyur, and wear heavy armor
Petyr Winsome: So anyhoo, you were talking about some gigantic snowy beastmen orf sorts?
    Petyr Winsome: That's quite big.
Adiyah Tulika: At least that'd what I've heard
Adiyah Tulika: Have you heard anything of them?
Devils Advocate: Please give us details! I fear for my life!
Petyr Winsome: I have heard something along the same lines, and that they were apparently trying to ally with the Empire too.
Petyr Winsome: They haven't the foggiest of a chance at that though in my opinion.
Petyr Winsome: As we all know these Imperials take a very poor view on ANY outsiders, especially beastmen.
Devils Advocate: The Empire you say? What have you heard of their plans?
Petyr Winsome: Last I heard it had something to do with trying to raise a wreck from deep down somewhere.
Petyr Winsome: Can't remember where though.
Adiyah Tulika: A wreck? What would they want with something like that?
Adiyah Tulika: Maybe that old broken ship out in Mor Dhona?
Petyr Winsome: I think that may be it...
Petyr Winsome: Hmmm maybe those frosty giants were trying to bater excavation of that hulk for them.
Petyr Winsome: barter that is, bah can't speak for the life of me.
Devils Advocate: But if they ressurect that we c.c.could all be in a lot of trouble! H.h.how should we prepair to handle this???
    Petyr Winsome: Fire maybe?
Unabaro Ookami: Fight fire with fire?
Adiyah Tulika: Kill it with fire?
    Devils Advocate: I am scaredy-waredy!
Adiyah Tulika: If they're trying to retrieve that ship, you think that the Empire might try an attack on Gridania?
Petyr Winsome: That's a distinct possibility. But then again they could bring it just about anywhere.
Devils Advocate: I am ready to defend my homeland til my deathy-weathy! I assure The Order of the Blue Garter will not let them succeed!
Petyr Winsome: I'm honestly surprised they haven't brought out their airship fleet yet.
Adiyah Tulika: Where else but Ul'dah!

A while back I ran into some GM that was speaking English (I was crafting and only paying half attention, but I believe it was the NPC for The Raven), however, they were really short and only stayed for a brief moment before running off (I was there for the entire encounter; in the Adv. Guild), basically went like this (paraphrased from memory as I did not save the dialogue):

GM: Hello adventurers, does anyone have any juicy gossip they like to talk about?
(pause 1min or so with no replies)
GM: No one? What about you Altrage Delaroux?
(had to have been good minute before I noticed the GM was speaking to me)
    Me: Who me?
GM: If there is another Altrage Delaroux please stand up.
Me: Lol, I've heard that the Garlean Empire is trying to gain valuable ground in various parts of Eorzea.
GM: Oh? I wonder what for?
    Me: Probably to attack us.
    GM: And your not worried?
Me: Nah, I'll kill'em all, lol.
GM: Certainly full of yourself, it seems.
(At this point some other players had run by and stopped to listen, I cannot remember their names for the life of me, so I'll just address them all as P1 as I cannot remember who said what XD)
GM: What about you all, what do you think of this Garlean threat?
P1: I've seen some Garleans around Camp Horizon.
GM: So close to an Aetheryte camp? What about the Black Shroud has anyone seen any Garleans here so close to home?
P1: I had a friend who saw some around the Black Shroud.
GM: Oh my! (and this was the strange part because you'd think the GM would stay bc there was an increasing size of interested players now)
GM: Well I think I have enough information for my next article, thank you everyone for this news!
(They began to run off, out of the Adv. Guild, curious I chased after to see if they actually zone into a place, but the GM just ran up that little slope path then cast a teleport spell and vanished all while constantly running, lol)

I just found it strange at how abruptly the GM zoned out, I was thinking afterward "Well they didn't really stick around to finish the conversation..." but I went back to the mindless crafting lol. Although, I really enjoy the sense of sarcasm the GMs can use when the timing is appropriate. It always puts a little smile on my face (its like they know something more than you when they say it; almost like a taunt; idk)
