I welcome this change!!
I have my tank jobs at lvl30 and will be planning to level them up soon. Im wondering if the effect of strength on physical attack potency will be reduced, will it affect enmity too? I read that the enmity multiplier is derived from weapon skill and STR, so I hope the new patch can give more enmity bonuses. I played WAR lvl 80 on FFXI and tanking was so beautiful in there..
Good it's about time that they did this we're tanks not DPS yes it means we have 1 set that we gear for but that's great it simplifies it and balances tank stats. Yes people will still hate parry with a passion and try to avoid it but we're tanks we're supposed to have tons of HP and mitigation. All those VIT items I have on my retainer I can finally smile and say I can finally use them, I just wish they made parry useful in some kind of way it's still pretty trash. But for the most part we can now need on VIT gear instead of saying to our fellow melee DPS "hey can you greed on that too? It's BiS for me".
I told everyone on my server it was going to happen. VIT gear dropping to the floor is bad game design.
Enmity multipliers are static (they have always been, I have no idea where you heard otherwise). Enmity = mulitplier x damage. Although it may be the case that they may doing this to reduce the already overabundance of aggro that is generated by tanks so they will use their aggro combos more often (aka, a silent raid dps nerf) and other classes will use their aggro control abilities more often (e.g. shadewalker, smokescreen, quelling strikes) since they are currently not really used.I have my tank jobs at lvl30 and will be planning to level them up soon. What happen to the people who said STR tanks are here to stay?
Enmity is a factor of damage multiplied by stance and the action used. Str increases damage which increases enmity generated. It doesn't really have a direct effect on enmity generation.I have my tank jobs at lvl30 and will be planning to level them up soon. The announced changes just say that Str's influence on tank damage will decrease and Vit will now have an effect on tank damage.
This means healers have no excuse to not dps now that tanks will have all this extra HP to spare. No excuses whatsoever.
