Why are people entering DF if they don't have an idea on how to play their class? If someone is doing something odd, I assume it is playstyle and that they do not want how-to-play lessons. There are plenty of guides available on the internet, or they can ask for help outside of DF (FC/friend/shout/dunno). Much better to ask for advice when there is no timer. Hopefully the mentor system will help with that.
On topic, I highly doubt the "why" puts some terrible flag on his account. While he should have left instead of dropping offline, I don't think it's as big a deal as the OP makes. The attitude of the tank was rather poor though.
